"This was the highlight of my trip and the sole reason I traveled to Stavanger in the first place. It's one of the most breathtaking views I have seen. If you want a guided tour, there are several small tour guides which include transportation and lunch. This is what I did, and it was perfect. If you have a rental car, you can drive here and park in the lot at the start of the hike. The path is very straightforward, and there will be likely a ton of people leading the way. I highly recommend getting there early. This hike can get very crowded quickly. I booked the sunrise tour (around 7am departure), and the hike was generally empty on the way up. By the time we were on our way back, SEVERAL people were on their way up. There is an afternoon hike option for those that aren't early risers. Overall, the hike is about 4-4.5 hours (2 hours up, 30 minutes at the top, 2 hours back down). Transportation is about an hour and a half from downtown Stavanger. In terms of difficulty, it's relatively easy. There are some part where the incline is steep, but nothing that isn't manageable and your guide stays with you every step of the way if you have one! Link to the recommended tour is below. "

"An amazing place to see, and a Norwegian icon, too. EVA'S TIP❗ try to do the hike the earlier you can to avoid crowds. The hike is easy, with an elevation of 500m. In total it will take around 4 hours, depending on your walking pace and endurance. "

"Preikestolen (The Pulpit Rock) towers 604 metres above the Lysefjord. The trek to the rock is one of Norway's most famous mountain hikes."
