"NOTE: this hike is located down an F ROAD! You need a particular vehicle to access this area that is cleared to go down F roads since it is a dirt road/off road area. Make sure to check with your rental booking to see if your van or car can legally use them.
We recommend visiting early for sunrise, or later for sunset to experience the most beautiful view. You cannot walk on the edges of the canyon because of the moss, please respect that.
At the end of the canyon you'll find a beautiful waterfall. You can also fly your drone here. If you do have one, please be respectful of other visitors.
Timing: The full hike is about 2 miles and it's easy to moderate! We were done with it and our pictures within an hour. "

"Located at the outskirts of the highlands and on your way to Laki is this very rugged and unique canyon. Very easily accissible by car from the ring road this canyon gained popularity through TV shows and music videos. While you cannot walk into it (to protect nature and your images from people) the best views are from the top anyways.
PHOTO TIPS
Hike all the way to the end of the trail which has a platform hanging over the canyon allowing you to shoot into it and capture the river curving through the rock formations. A drone also can come in very handy to either fly into the canyon (it is allowed) or capture it top down from above."

"Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon is another worthy stop along the ring road. Parking costs around 1000 ISK and you will walk about half a mile up from the parking lot with views into the canyon along the way. At the end of the short trail, there is a viewpoint that overlooks the canyon where you can see down. Great views and photo locations as well.
This was one of Sam's favorites and was absolutely jaw-dropping. Also a great place for drone shots, if you bring one!
Cost: Free
Parking: 1000ISK to park in the lot, or along the side of the road if the parking lot is full (what we had to do). You can pay for parking with the Parka app "
