Parque das Virtudes

"Located in the historic center of Porto, on Rua de Azevedo de Albuquerque, Parque das Virtudes is located in the space formerly occupied by Companhia Hortícola Portuense, designed by landscape gardener José Marques Loureiro (1830-1898). In 1965, it was acquired by the Porto City Council, and restoration works were carried out in 1998. One of the main peculiarities of this park is the fact that it is developed on terraces down the slope, meaning that from almost every location you have a unique view over the Customs House, the Douro River and Vila Nova de Gaia. In this place it is also possible to find the largest Ginkgo Biloba L. in Portugal, an 18th century tree, originally from China, measuring around 35 meters, having been classified as a tree of public interest by the General Directorate of Forests in January 2005."
