You can reach the city by plane and then with a 30min ride from the airport to the city, by night or daubs from multiple Mexican destinations or with your car if you decided to rent a car. Keep in mind that distances can be really long in Mexico, so don't plan too much in a short time if you are roadtripping. To get around in the city you can easily walk and explore every corner by foot, if you want to move quicker, take a colectivo or taxi.
