"📍 Alhambra, Granada
Known as the crown jewel of Granada and one of the most visited sites in Spain, with over 2 million visitors a year!
As you can see it is a spectacularly impressive monument, with outstanding detail and beautiful gardens. It really feels like you are walking through history - it truly is unmissable! 😍
Everything you need to know before visiting the Alhambra ✨
🎟️ Firstly let’s talk tickets - there are three main ways you can book your ticket:
1. Directly through the Alhambra website (19 euros) Try and book at least a month in advance as it will sell out!
2. Book a guided tour. (From 35 euros depending on the company and group size).
3. Book using the Granada card. If you have left it late to book tickets, this is your best chance to visit as they keep some slots for Granada card holders. (From 49 euros).
✨ Other important information
⏰ The quietest time to visit is the first or last slot of the day. We booked the 8:30am slot.
⏳ Don’t be late to the Nasrid Palace - if you miss your slot they won’t let you in!
🪪 The ID you book with IS your ticket. You need to scan this to enter the site and palaces. Do not forget this!
🚶♂️ The Alhambra sits atop a pretty big hill so be prepared for a tiring uphill walk! Trust us though it’s worth it!
🚍 Alternatively there is a bus which will drop you off right outside. They seemed to run pretty regularly and are clearly marked ‘ALHAMBRA’.
👣 The site is HUGE and will take 3-4 hours to see it all. Wear comfy shoes!
📸 Make sure your phone / camera is fully charged as you will be taking a lot of pictures! "

"If you can, book the first tickets in the morning. This will allow you to explore the complex with few people around. There are some parts accessible with a regular ticket you can get on the spot while some parts, the most beautiful ones, are accessible only by a limited number of visitors per day.
In this fortress, built by the Moors and finally conquered by the Catholic Monarchs, every room is a surprise. There are arches, arabesques, colors, fountains, plants, and smells around every corner and what we see now is not even one-third of how marvelous it was when built as the palace lived a long period of decadence until modern days when it was restored and returned to us. Part of the Alhambra complex is also the Generalife, a summer palace surrounded by gardens and fountains. Walking through these places you do not even perceive the hot weather as it is fresh and shaded all around and the vegetation is lush, not dry and yellowish as you would expect. Something is certain, the sultans knew how to treat themselves!"
