"The Winged Lion monument in Prague is a tribute to the 2,513 Czechs and Slovaks who served as pilots and air crew with the British forces during World War Two. The creation of the monument was made possible by the Winged Lion Memorial Appeal Fund, which was supported by expats from Czechia and Slovakia. The monument was officially unveiled in 2014 by Sir Nicholas Soames, the grandson of Winston Churchill. Initially, the monument recognized the 2,513 individuals in general terms, but in 2017, additional panels were added to list their names and ranks. A cross marks the names of those who died, making it a moving and detailed memorial."

"Work of the British sculptor Colin Spofforth. The monument was inaugurated on June 17, 2014. It is dedicated to the Czechoslovakian airmen who served in the British Royal Air Force during the Second World War and many of whom took part in the Battle of Britain."
