Sørvágsvatn

What people say
Nally Preseault
"If Múlafossur is the most-famous destination in the Faroe Islands, then Sørvágsvatn must be the second. The islands’ largest lake looks like it hangs over the ocean. Yes, hangs. It’s an optical illusion that you have to see to believe. Spoiler: the cliffs are taller than they appear from a distance, so water only escapes from the Bøsdalafossur waterfall.
Note: The well-groomed trails along the lake and near the waterfall are on private property. You must pay 200kr each to access the area. On very foggy days, you might be disappointed."

"Hike to the stunning lake that appears to hang above the ocean due to its optical illusion. You can also witness the breathtaking Bøsdalafossur waterfall nearby."
