Exploring Faroe Islands in a week
General Information
The Faroe Islands are a group of 18 islands forged by volcanic activity and the glaciers of the ice age, a beautiful archipelago located in the North Atlantic Ocean, known for their stunning landscapes, dramatic cliffs, and unique culture.
While you can see the main highlights of the Faroe Islands in 3-5 days, staying a few days longer makes for a more relaxing trip and gives you an opportunity to visit remote islands and also do some hiking.
The weather shifts rapidly so dress yourself in layers. One minute it can be sunny and the next you will stand in pouring rain. Think about bringing waterproof boots and warm wool socks.
Cards can be used everywhere. DKK is the currency used.
Important to check visa requirements to enter the Faroe Islands. The Faroe Islands are not part of the Schengen cooperation and not a member of the EU, therefore a visa to Denmark and a Schengen visa does not give access to entry into the Faroe Islands.
Don't hike in the fog, easy to fall of the cliff. There are more accidents in the last years because of tourism growing.
Planning is a key, but be ready that your plans can be cancelled due to weather conditions, so be open minded about this trip and what it can bring.
