Slættaratindur

What people say
Nally Preseault
"Slættaratindur, in the northern part of Eysturoy, is the highest peak in the Faroe Islands. Flat Peak certainly doesn’t have a flat trail, though. The out-and-back hike is only 2.2 miles. After using a double-sided ladder to climb over a sheep fence, the trail goes straight up the mountain. No switchbacks. No wide curves. No unnecessary steps. Just straight up a green pasture, over slippery rocks, and through narrow crevices. Wind-blown sheep will stop to stare at you. The finicky weather will change every few minutes. But those who push to the top will be greatly rewarded. On a clear day—fingers crossed—you can see the entire Faroese archipelago. Don’t miss this."
