"Deer's Park wasn't always a public space. Originally, the area served as a moat surrounding the city's defensive bastions. In the mid-19th century, the moat was filled in and transformed into a beautiful dendrology park and arboretum by the Estonian Gardening Society. This transformation not only created a green oasis but also laid the groundwork for the park's exceptional biodiversity.
Despite its name, Deer's Park is no longer home to actual deer. However, this doesn't diminish the park's wildlife appeal. The diverse flora provides a habitat for a variety of birds, squirrels, and other small animals. Keep your eyes peeled and you might even catch a glimpse of a bat flitting through the evening sky."
