Lesser Town Bridge Tower

What people say

"Built during the reign of King George of Podebrady in the latter half of the 15th century, the tower replaced an older Romanesque structure. Its design drew inspiration from the Old Town Bridge Tower on the opposite side of Charles Bridge, which had been constructed earlier. At 43.5 meters tall, it is one of Prague's few remaining examples of post-Hussite Gothic architecture. The tower is connected to the smaller Judith's Tower, the only remnant of the original Judith's Bridge, which was destroyed in 1342 and replaced by Charles Bridge. Inside, there is an exhibition detailing the dramatic history of Charles Bridge, highlighting the armies that have invaded Prague by crossing it."
"Two towers connected by a gate that form the entrance to the Lesser Town from the Charles Bridge. You can enjoy a breathtaking view of the meandering Vltava River and the historic city center from its gallery. "

"The tower leads into "Lesser Town," or Malá Strana (Czech for "Little Side (of the River)." For a small fee, climb 138 steps to the viewing platform. The view is worth it!"
