Pepèn Parma

"Parma is well known for an unexpected specialty: horse meat tartare sandwiches! Pepen, the original, is one of the two best locations to enjoy one, served with grilled zucchini and mayo ("pesto di cavallo crudo"). This is a very simple location, perfect for a take-away lunch. There are few, precious seats, but I wouldn’t rely on them being available. The sandwiches are long and soft and can be filled with a number of combinations, not just horse, so take some time to check out the menu to see what sounds best, you can find the menu on Facebook at the link below. For the more adventurous eaters, you might want to consider the raw pork sausage sandwich! Since there can be a pretty long line, if you’re traveling with a larger group or are short on time I strongly recommend calling ahead (see phone number below) to make a reservation for your preferred sandwich."
