Maui has a lot on offer for first timers. To me, Maui is more of a "resort" based island, is very family friendly, has some great, unique activities and it's own take on Hawaiian cuisine. Don't forget the banana bread! You could easily spend a week exploring.

I think of Maui from a geographical standpoint and there are 4 key areas to explore: Kaanapali in the north west, Kihei in the south west, Hana in the north east, and Kahului/Haleakala in the middle. The first two are more centralized with hotels/places to stay and the other 2 are easy day trips. 4-5 days is ideal for exploring Maui for the first time!

Looking for a perfect way to spend a long weekend in Maui, Hawai’i, check out this 3 and a half day itinerary to take the stress out of planning your ideal island vacation and leave the relaxing to you. This itinerary is made for adults ages 21+ in mind. 

When in Hawai’i, always remember to respect the locals, the rules, their culture and wildlife, leave places better than you found them, and practice the leave no trace principle. Remember, we are guests in their home. 

Out of respect and guidance, this guide does not include any stops or activities in West Maui. Our hearts go out to the grieving communities and local islanders who are still struggling to recover from the wildfires in early August 2023. Please do not go to Lahaina or take photos of the area.

A place I feel so lucky to call my second home. While there are a million things to do and places to recommend on the island, and truthfully you cannot go wrong, here are some of my highlights I would recommend.

10 days of adventuring through 3 different islands of Hawaii. Waterfalls, beaches, National Parks, views, luaus, wildlife, volcanoes, and more! This jam-packed itinerary has a bit of everything for an epic trip through the islands. Save yourself hours of planning by following this guide.

For this trip, I added a travel day to each end since we were flying all the way from Florida - a total of 12 days.

Aloha! As a frequent traveler to the island of Maui I wanted to share some of my favorite places on the island. Every time I go I discover a new gem. Included in the map are restaurants, great places to take a tour with your group, some shopping and even a UPS store near the airport so you can ship a box home of your island goodies (Kona coffee!)

MUST MAKE SUNRISE RESERVATIONS ONLINE AHEAD OF TIME. Time slots open months ahead of time at Recoration.gov For this it is the sunrise experience ticket. These only cost $1 and you can only get 1 per person within a 3 day period. You cannot sell these nor transfer them to others. Recommended to make your profile and already have a card on file to make your transaction process much smoother, especially if you are selecting a popular day. 

A view at the top that's unparalleled. I highly recommend waking up early and getting to the top of the volcano before sunrise. Dress warmly as it's cold up there. There is also an entry fee to the park. Whoever is your best driver should be the one behind the wheel because the roads are very windy and not well lit - so if it's dark it's hard to see! 

Above the clouds & looks like heaven, really. If you plan to come here for sunrise, you’ll need reservations. But I recommend sunset, it’s just as nice and you won’t need to drive back down with the morning sun shining in your eyes (that always bothered me). 

The sunrise tour is so beautiful there are not enough words to use. Try to book a tour that includes breakfast at a local spot on the way down the mountain. 

Watch the sunrise or sunset from the summit of Haleakalā and explore the otherworldly landscapes of the dormant volcano.
