MAUI, HAWAII
WHERE TO STAY
There are many options around the island where you can stay. From 5-star hotels to Airbnb and vacation rentals, you'll be able to find a place within your budget. Instead of recommending hotels, I'm going to recommend the best locations to stay in the island.
Wailea-Makena: This is probably the place that most people stay as it's decently close to the airport (Kahului), right on the water, and several hotel chains are here. If you want to live out your White Lotus dream, Season 1 was filmed at the Four Seasons in Wailea.
Lahaina / Ka'anapali: Probably the second most popular area to stay in. Lahaina unfortunately had the devastating wildfires recently, so a lot of my favorite places have since disappeared. However, the Ka'anapali area is still standing. Another place where there are a ton of hotels right on the water, and the beach is beautiful.
Kapalua: I would describe this as the perfect location if you're on your honeymoon or if you're a big golfer. The Kapalua golf course is a beauty, and there are several nice resorts with private beaches. Kapalua is also slightly secluded, but close enough to the more populated areas.
Hana: The most remote location of the 4 if you're hoping to stay more in the woods than on the water. If you're hoping to stay here, you'll have to find an Airbnb that's available.
I would strongly recommend renting a car if it's in your budget! There are Lyfts on the island, but a car makes it much easier especially if you're planning on doing the road to Hana and a sunrise Haleakala trip!
