You can hit the highlights of each neighborhood on your walking and eating tour . What a delightful trip awaits you !
Remember the destination is not as important as the journey .Enjoy the ride and stay in the moment .
BRING AN UMBRELLA-Paris is always rainy , even in the spring-so be sure to purchase a good, compact travel umbrella and bring it with you wherever you go. Rain will not stop you from galavanting around the city ,which brings me to my next tip.
EXPLORE THE CITY BY FOOT-Walk, walk, walk -whenever you can. Paris is a city best explored on foot . You are sure to discover your own personal favorites .Or even find that great one of a kind angle for your most memorable pictures in the city of lights .
EXPLORE BY METRO-Paris has one of the best ,most organized, and on time subway system of any country . The attendants are very helpful and most major metro stations have an information booth . Each Platform has a lighted sign announcing arriving metro trains, and also there is a loud announcement in French and English .
ON THE METRO-The metro is usually going to be very packed depending on the time of day You most likely will find yourself sandwiched between other riders in front of the doors . Be sure not to block the metro doors as people will need to get off. You may even need to step off to let others off and then get back on quickly . French detest blocked metro doors (I will also be posting a more in-depth metro guide .)
UPON ARRIVAL - If you arrive by plane it is best to take an Uber or Lyft to your apartment or hotel . Juggling luggage on the train can be daunting as well as difficult to find space . Even most Parisians will arrange for a car when arriving with luggage . Now if you are travel savvy and have less luggage the train would be suitable for you .
ENJOY AND RELAX- Parisians enjoy their meals thoroughly and would never rush through a meal or a drink . It is typical to spend at least two or more hours savoring your food , especially a three course menu .
PHONE SERVICE - Before your trip , check with your phone service carrier and make sure you will have service when arriving and verify the costs . There is nothing worse than arriving and discovering you have no service . Making it difficult to contact your hotel or vacation rental host.or call an Uber. Also make sure your phone is unlocked so you can connect with other networks or purchase a french sim while in Paris. With your passport you can go a mobile phone store and purchase a local SIM and service for a low cost compared to roaming costs the savings is excellent .
