"The Place de Vosges is the oldest planned Plazas in Paris. Once covered with sand for visitors who arrived on horseback to socialize and ride around the square.
The place was formally called the Plaza Royale and was home to the Hotel des Tournelles(Towers.) A compound of the French monarchy which was demolished upon the order of Catherine de Medici. She was grieving over the jousting death of her husband Henry the II, who was stabbed in the head by a joisting stick which broke his skull into pieces at the sight of the injury.
When visiting the Marais this lush green park is a must see. Bring a coffee and enjoy a stroll through the park ."
