Arguably the best pizzeria in the city, Gustapizza offers an authentic Italian pizza experience. This is a must-try.
This is a pizzeria – aka not a fancy restaurant.
It’s cash only and there’s usually a line out the door. If it’s busy, know what you want to order and then listen closely for your number to be called (it’ll be FAST, like faster than you expect).
If you’re lucky, there will be an open table packed with strangers and you’ll sit and meet a new friend.
**Last time we were there, due to covid, you had to wait outside for your pizza order if you were taking it to-go. If you are eating in, prepare to pay a €2.50 pp “coperto” charge.
🌅 We loved taking the short walk back to the Arno River and eating on the bridge.

Pino is somewhat of a legend in Florence. At his panini shop, you will find tourists and locals alike enjoying downright delicious paninos at a reasonable price! Make your own or choose from a list of paninos pre-made to perfection! 🥪
If there’s one place you must go to in all of Florence, it’s La Carraia. Just promise you’ll try the "Delizia La Carraia" flavor (but tbh, they're all amazing) and tell our friend and owner Roberto that we said hi! 👋
There is also another location on the opposite side of the Arno River.
This family-owned trattoria has been operating since 1977 and is beloved by everyone who dines there!
We really loved their carbonara and bolognese — but everything on the menu is delicious (and there’s a lot to choose from)! Don’t forget the tiramisu for dessert. 🍮

On the second floor of this incredible indoor 19th-century market hall, there is a modern food hall that’s the perfect place for an aperitif, lunch or dinner! 🥂
Choose from a wide variety of options, grab a spritz from the bar, and enjoy this lively atmosphere.
Pizza Napoli is best for a quick, easy, and affordable pizza. This spot offers table service, but you can also order your pizza to-go. Aside from Gustapizza (where wait times can exceed two hours), this pizza is the best in town. Our favorite thing to do is order to-go and take a two minute walk to Piazza della Signoria to indulge.
Mercato Centrale in Florence is a vibrant culinary haven, offering two stories of amazing, fresh food. There is truly an eclectic array of gourmet delights making it a food lover's paradise. From delectable Italian dishes to artisanal specialties, visitors can indulge in a diverse range of flavors amidst a lively and authentic market atmosphere.
Breakfast in Florence is essentially non-existant, unless you're only craving a croissant and a cappuccino. La Milkeria offers a wide-variety of breakfast favorites for an affordable price. The BEC bagels will remind you of New York, and the crepes will make you feel like you're in Paris.
Vivoli is a Florence staple. This traditional shop is everything that you imagine when you picture an Italian gelato store. They offer over 40 flavors of gelato, coffee, and the best affogato you will ever have.
Gelateria dei Neri is arguably the most famous shop in town. They often have a line out the door and it is worth the wait. This gelato shop offers over 40 different unique flavors.
Located beside Piazzale Michelangelo, this garden is a perfect place for a picnic or simply sit and overlook the city. Admission is free and it is open from dawn-dusk. There is also a rose garden located on the opposite side that can tend to get a little busier.
