Jack and I studied abroad in Florence, Italy in the spring of 2019. Since then, I’ve been back twice and to this day, it remains one of my favorite European cities.
This is a collection of all of our favorite cafés and restaurants in Florence! ☕️🍕🍝

La Buchetta Food & Wine Restaurant

This cozy, traditional bistro includes an extensive wine list and amazing Italian food. If a Florentine steak is on your bucket list, this is a great place to try it. 🥩
Also— try the famous angel and demon gnocchi, featured in the photos above.

Gustapizza
@wanderingduo
Arguably the best pizzeria in the city, Gustapizza offers an authentic Italian pizza experience. This is a must-try.
This is a pizzeria – aka not a fancy restaurant.
It’s cash only and there’s usually a line out the door. If it’s busy, know what you want to order and then listen closely for your number to be called (it’ll be FAST, like faster than you expect).
If you’re lucky, there will be an open table packed with strangers and you’ll sit and meet a new friend.
**Last time we were there, due to covid, you had to wait outside for your pizza order if you were taking it to-go. If you are eating in, prepare to pay a €2.50 pp “coperto” charge.
🌅 We loved taking the short walk back to the Arno River and eating on the bridge.

4 Leoni
@wanderingduo
Tuscan specialties & regional wines are served in a rustic-chic dining room with exposed brick.
*Jack and I ate at this gorgeous restaurant on our last evening in Florence as study abroad students. We heard the pear and ricotta ravioli was out of this world— AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! 🤤
On our most recent trip to Florence, we returned and it still remains one of our favorite places for pasta in the city. We recommend the pear and ricotta ravioli and the bolognese ragu!

Pino is somewhat of a legend in Florence. At his panini shop, you will find tourists and locals alike enjoying downright delicious paninos at a reasonable price! Make your own or choose from a list of paninos pre-made to perfection! 🥪

La Carraia in Santa Croce
@wanderingduo
If there’s one place you must go to in all of Florence, it’s La Carraia. Just promise you’ll try the "Delizia La Carraia" flavor (but tbh, they're all amazing) and tell our friend and owner Roberto that we said hi! 👋
There is also another location on the opposite side of the Arno River.

Trattoria Zà Zà
@wanderingduo
This family-owned trattoria has been operating since 1977 and is beloved by everyone who dines there!
We really loved their carbonara and bolognese — but everything on the menu is delicious (and there’s a lot to choose from)! Don’t forget the tiramisu for dessert. 🍮

Santarosa Bistrot
@wanderingduo
Although Santarosa is a little bit of a walk from the center, it’s absolutely worth it. This place is a little haven of peace and quiet and you’re positioned right by the old city walls! 👀
Come in the morning for a pastry and a coffee or dine at their fabulous restaurant.
