Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is one of those cities that will always have you coming back for more - more food, more culture, more music, more tango, more. The city holds onto its old European architectural charm, while emanating Latin culture. The food here is incredible, and the people are vibrant.
This map holds information about what areas to stay in, what to do in the city, & most importantly, where to eat & drink.

Mendoza
Mendoza is where most of the Malbecs on the shelf in your grocery store probably come from, and though they make all types of wine here, Malbec is one of their specialties. Mendoza itself is a small city with good restaurants, a couple of major parks, and more. If you’re looking for more of a wine-tasting experience, stay in Valle de Uco or Lujan de Cuyo. This will have you closer to most of the top wineries, and in a more quiet and beautiful area with views of the Andes in the distance.
I highly recommend planning Mendoza to be the last part of your trip to Argentina if you plan on taking any wine back with you to the states. It’s incredibly expensive to ship wine back, so instead, purchase a couple of styrofoam wine boxes to keep your bottles safe, and check them with you on the plane. The reason I say you should plan this part of your trip to be the end of your trip is so that you’re not having to carry around your wine to all the rest of your destinations, plus, it really is the perfect way to end your trip.
This guide includes specific recommendations for where to stay, where to eat, & how to book the best wine-tasting tour. You'll also find an awesome option for a day trip to the mountains if you'd like to get some hiking in!

Patagonia
Patagonia is not an easy place to plan a trip to, but it’s worth all of the effort and more. If you have your own car or are renting one, you can still do this itinerary, but I did this full 8-day itinerary without a car. I've included all the information you'll need for how to get around & enjoy Patagonia from El Chalten, and also Torres del Paine using the bus system in the area.
If you have the extra time, I’d recommend spending an extra day or two at each destination. There is always more to do, and then you’ll feel less stressed if the weather turns on you on a hiking day, which happens a lot in these areas. We got super lucky and had clear days the entire time we were there, but that’s rare.
To do this trip, expect to fly into El Calafate from Buenos Aires, Bariloche, or Ushuaia. It's best to do this trip in November-March, which is summertime in Patagonia. You'll get the best weather during these times.
