Mendoza is where most of the Malbecs on the shelf in your grocery store probably come from, and though they make all types of wine here, Malbec is one of their specialties. Mendoza itself is a small city with good restaurants, a couple of major parks, and more. If you’re looking for more of a wine-tasting experience, stay in Valle de Uco or Lujan de Cuyo. This will have you closer to most of the top wineries, and in a more quiet and beautiful area with views of the Andes in the distance.
I highly recommend planning Mendoza to be the last part of your trip to Argentina if you plan on taking any wine back with you to the states. It’s incredibly expensive to ship wine back, so instead, purchase a couple of styrofoam wine boxes to keep your bottles safe, and check them with you on the plane. The reason I say you should plan this part of your trip to be the end of your trip is so that you’re not having to carry around your wine to all the rest of your destinations, plus, it really is the perfect way to end your trip.
This guide includes specific recommendations for where to stay, where to eat, & how to book the best wine-tasting tour. You'll also find an awesome option for a day trip to the mountains if you'd like to get some hiking in!
If you find this information helpful, any tips are appreciated for my work :)

Where to Stay
If you visit Mendoza for the purposes of wine tasting, I recommend staying 20 minutes outside of the city in Lujan de Cuyo. You'll be much closer to all of the wineries. The area is also gorgeous.
Luján de Cuyo
@michaela
Everyone visits Mendoza for wine tasting, but to be closest to the best wine tasting, you’re going to want to stay in Lujan de Cuyo. It’s located just a short 20-30 minute drive from the center of Mendoza. The valley is gorgeous with lots of wineries, and views of the Andes.

Villa Mansa, Wine Hotel & Spa
@michaela
Located in Lujan de Cuyo, this boutique hotel is the perfect place to stay for a wine-tasting trip. It’s located on a beautiful property, surrounded by wineries, and even has some of its own grape vines on site. It has a nice pool, and clean, comfortable rooms. There are also a couple of rooms available that are shaped like wine barrels if you want the full experience. The on-site restaurant is actually really good, and breakfast is included every morning. The best part of the hotel was the three dogs which were super friendly running around the entire time we were there. They also have a spa offering massages & the front desk can help you with anything you might need.
