Copenhagen My Top 10 Activities
I went to Copenhagen for a week to visit a friend that moved there a year ago ! I waited just the right time for her to know the city well enough and guide me around haha
This is my first guide on Copenhagen, but there will be a second for all the day trips I took :)
How to get to Copenhagen
I came by train from South of Germany - just know that when you take the train you'll be checked at the border with your passport/ ID
How to move in Copenhagen
Get the Copenhagen Card! It includes a looot of activities, as well as the local transport (bus, metro, train ...) all over the area (Copenhagen city + suburbs all around)
Also you can use the bike just like in Amsterdam, they have a bike lanes everywhere. I used the app "dunkin" which is the cheapest one to go around.
What's the local currency?
Danish crowns ! It's around
My top 10 Activities
The Little Mermaid - second most disappointing activity in Europe
This is actually a fact you'll learn in case you take a free guided tour around the city by the company "
Nyhavn - the famous spot
Nyhavn is the area of Copenhaguen with the beautiful colored houses next to this canal entering the city ! There are a lot of restaurants on the sides where you can have lunch :)
Jardins de Tivoli - concerts friday nights
Who expects an attraction parc in the middle of a capital city? Not me, honestly ! I thought it would be on the outsides or elsewhere, but not right next to the train station ! This was really a big surprise, especially that when you are inside, it feels like it's so huge compared to when you see it from the outside?? Crazy if you ask me! Also, the famous "Gasoline" burger place is in the parc ;)
Bonus: if you go in the summer, concert take place every friday evening in the parc! And they have really nice singers, even if you may not know them beforehand ;)
National Museum of Denmark - culture
Christiania & Christianshavn
Ok so you know those communist communities we sometimes hear about? That's what Christianshavn is! People started this "inside city" on the concept of sharing and no laws around. Of course, it has evolved a bit since the hippie times, and they do have some ways to secure the area now, but you'll definitely smell drugs around if you go visit. It's a special place :) There are some guided tours in the area of Christiana that bring you to Christianshavn, but they are not allowed to guide you IN the mini-city.
Rosenborg Castel - nice garden
The Rosenborg Castle was my favorite out of the 3 you can find in the city ! It has the most beautiful garden, various rooms you can wander around and the royal treasure underground.
Good to know: there are exact times to go in, so when you buy your tickets they'll tell you when will be yours.
Botanical garden - cute + butterfly
The Botanical garden is located in a parc next to the Rosenborg Castel ! There are different greenhouses, and even some with butterflies ! Which makes it a magical place :)
Designmuseum Denmark - fun
I recommend the designmuseum for fun, on a rainy day or so if you have time and want an inside acitivity !
Amalienborg - the life of the former King
Amalienborg is one of the many castles of the city! They currently have an exposition on the former king, relating his life and how he grew to be this amazing person his people love him for :)
Glyptotek - greek statues
If you like statues and paintings, this is the place for you ! You almost think you are visiting Greece or Italy in this museum ! There even is a greenhouse in the middle which gives it a nice environment and feeling :)
