Great bookshop on MDI. Right in the center of Bar Harbor. Wide selection of books, games, arts and crafts stuff, and more.

If you have 4 or fewer people, pop by for dinner at the parilla (grill) on the side. They don’t take reservations so there might be a short wait but the food is fantastic. Try the elote. Make reservations to eat in the main restaurant. It’s white tablecloth but not super formal. Out fave spot for dinner in Bar Harbor!

Thurston's Lobster Pound
@OutandAboutwGandL
Our fave lobster pound in MDI. Line moves pretty quickly, but we like to get there early. If you aren’t getting a lobster, you can go straight to the bar area and order anything else on the menu there. Consistently delicious!

Always a long line for a reason. Take a selfie with the lobster outside. The blueberry (and so many others) are excellent. Also a pretty good selection of sugar free and vegan options.

Duck Harbor Campground

2 options- take the ferry over from stonington and do a scenic trip, with an opportunity to do a hike then ride back OR snag a spot when they open on April 1 every year and camp in one of just a few wooden shelters. Each has a fire pit and picnic table. A couple well-kept composting toilets in the area. Several of the sites have water view.

Love the lobster boat races and festival here. Pancake breakfast at the Masonic lodge, lobster dinner at the fire hall. Parade at 6. Fireworks at 9 for easily 30 mins. Bike around the schoodic peninsula in the afternoon for some great race viewing spots.

Project Social Kitchen & Bar

Loved our table on the porch. Brussels salad was tasty… we tried several things that were all good. Shareable sizes so you can try lots of delicious dishes. Highly recommend for a casual but tasty meal in bar harbor.
