Switzerland Like A Local: 11 hidden peaks where locals hike
TOUR DE MAYEN / TOUR D'AI
This is a hike that can be done in a full day or over one camping night. Watching the sunset/sunrise at the top is breathtaking.
We parked our car in Leysin in the afternoon and hiked up. Enjoyed the beautiful views and sunrise and came back down the next morning.
ROCHERS DE NAYE
This peak can be reached in various ways. The easiest way if you don't want to walk is to take the train from Montreux, which will bring you right at the top. Another option would be to drive up to "Haut de Caux" and from there make your way up. Or you could start your hike from Montreux, depending on how much hiking you would like to do.
From Haut de Caux, there is a variety of ways to get to the peak and do a nice round. I went like this: Haut de caux; Cret d'y Bau; La perche; Col de Bonaudon; Grottes de Naye; Rochers de Naye. I slept around there and went down the next morning in another way.
LE FOLLY
On the easier hike but hard to reach with no car. I usually parc at the "Cergniaule" and usually don't stay overnight.
LE GRAMMONT
One of my favorite peaks around as you have a beautiful view on lake geneva. There is also a lake (Lac Taney) on your way up with local restaurants. If you don't feel going all the way up, the lake is a fun spot too! You can even take a dip. I parc my car at the "parking du Flon".
CROIX DE LA LÉ
Another peak right next to the Grammont. You can reach it also by coming from Lac Taney. But I parked my car at "Evouettes", a small town in the valley and walk my way up.
TÊTE DE CHALIN
If you are scared of heights, this is not for you. I parked my car at the Auberge de Chindonne and walked my way up. There are two cabins where you could sleep on your way up or just tent! The views were more than amazing.
PIC CHAUSSY
Depending on when you go, there might be more people. There is a lake (lac lioson) and little restaurant on your way up. You can park your car in Lioson and go up from there.
LE PETIT & LE GRAND CHAMOSSAIRE
This is popular peak in the winter. In the summer, you can reach it by foot or with the cable car from Villars. The hike from Villars is nice as there are various restaurant on your way up. Most people stop in Bretaye. However, it is worth going up a little, the views are amazing. There is a also a path between the two peaks (not if ybou are afraid of height). I camped once at the Petit Chamossaire, but most people go there for a day trip from Villars-sur-Ollon.
CROIX DES CHAUX
If you staying near Villars-sur-Ollon, this is a fun hike to do. You can make it as simple or harder as you wish. Taveyanne is a nice little typical Swiss town next to it also worth visiting.
POINTE DES SAVOLAIRES
There are various ways to reach this peak. I parked my car at Pont de Nant and walked up. You can do a nice round trip on your way down and take the other road towards Pont de Nant. Also a nice little restaurant at the bottom.
POINTE DES MARTINETS
You can also reach this peak from Pont de Nant, but we decided to start from Javerne. Very nice views and the sunset was amazing.
