Restaurant gems in Copenhagen 🍽️🇩🇰

Restaurant gems in Copenhagen 🍽️🇩🇰

Looking for amazing recommendations? I've got you covered! I read tonssss of blogs written by Copenhagen locals before my recent trip there and they led me to these lovely spots. Some are tried and tested, some I'm still yearning to visit. What they all have in common: each of these spots have at least a 4/5 rating on Google and that measure hasn't led me astray yet :)

Apparently this is one of the most popular restaurants for smørrebrød - traditional Danish open-faced sandwiches! There is also a deli and takeaway option.

Admiralgade 26

I was told this is an "essential" restaurant to visit in the city if you're intrigued by a menu that incorporates influencers from Italy, Spain and Japan - how good does that sound? :)

Boyfriend and I had such a delicious dinner here! And the value for money is very good. A minimalist Nordic basement restaurant with a cool upbeat vibe. We had the 5-course meny which was delicious and only cost 450 kr. (52 GBP / 88 CAD). Book in advance!

This place describes itself as having a "cozy lively atmosphere with a touch of refinement". Sounds like just the kind of place I'd want to go on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday! And if you're not convinced, the cool style of photos and flood plating on its Instagram page might :)

Fru Nimb

Another spot known for its smørrebrød - and it's located in the famous Tivoli Gardens. Could it get more quintessential Copenhagen? :)

This looks and sounds like the kind of place to go if you want a truly special gastronomic experience. It was ranked #1 of the world's best 50 restaurants in 2022! Seasonal tasting menu is a whopping 4,200 DKK (or approx 480 GBP / 820 CAD / 604 USD).

Sounds like an absolute must-visit for seafood lovers! And it's run by Noma's former sous chef so that certainly gives it lots of street cred :) TATA Cocktail Bar is also around the corner which looks like a great spot for a pre-cocktail or post-dinner night cap!

JATAK

This fine dining spot looks like it exudes all the cool that you can find in the city's Nørrebro neighbourhood. It offers two tasting menus - a smaller one in the Dining Room and the larger chef's menu at the Kitchen Counter.

Kadeau

This lovely looking restaurant was granted a Michelin star in early 2023 and I can see why! All their ingredients are from a Danish island called Bornholm so it's local through and through :) And how cool and good does the ambiance look in their photos?

Kødbyens Fiskebar
@awaywithalbs
A cool looking seafood restaurant in an industrial-style building in the city's Meatpacking District. Apparently there are beach chairs put out in the summer so you can post up with a bottle of wine. How good, right?

Noma
@awaywithalbs
I feel like a Copenhagen restaurant list just isn't complete without Noma. Maybe the most famous restaurant in the city. So many that came from there have gone on to drive the success of the food scene here. But make sure to go before it closes at the end of 2024!

A great sounding spot for a traditional Danish lunch that comes with palace and canal views, according to Whimsy Soul blog. She recommends a sampling of herring and a smørrebrød "to get a true taste of local flavours!"

For boyfriend and I, it came down to choosing between Cofoco and this spot - and it was such a hard decision! All of the tasting menus and the a la carte one sound and look absolutely delicious. A quintessentially simple and elegant looking spot for a truly Scandinavian dinner :)
