Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond in Gyeongju are remnants of Silla's grandeur, once serving as the eastern palace for the prince and hosting grand feasts. The site includes the enchanting Wolji Pond, originally named for its moonlit reflections, created by King Munmu in 674. K-dramas have showcased Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond's charm: In episode 1 of The Beauty Inside (JTBC, 2018), Han Se-gye (Seo Hyun-jin) visits the site, drawn by her love for historic buildings, only to be surprised when Seo Do-jae (Lee Min-ki) arrives, having seen her brochure. In episode 3 of Reply 1988 (tvN, 2015-16), it's a key stop on a school retreat. Additionally, the tea party scene in Goong/Princess Hours (MBC, 2006) was filmed at Wolji Pond, adding a touch of royal elegance.
