How to get to this area

I suggest you to fly to Naples, Italy (NAP). It is the closest airport to this region.

Airport tips:

- the Naples airport is very close to the city. You can walk (about 4 km) or take a bus to Napoli Garibaldi

- if you choose a bus, the cheapest way is walk a few meters to the bus stop "Napoli - V. le U. Maddalena Usc. Dog. Aeroporto" and catch a bus 920 to the bus stop "Napoli - C.so Novara, CL". That is the center of Naples.

- you can download the app called Aeroporto di Napoli where you will find all important information about the airport and your flight.

- if you have a late night / early morning flight, be aware that the airport is closed for the night. It closes after last flight and opens at 4:00 am.

- right inside of departure hall is McDonald´s

Tips for public transport:

- definitely download the app "Google maps". You can click on any bus/train/metro stop and it will show you which line goes there. After that, you can even click on the chosen line and you will see exactly where it runs

- be aware that the buses often have a big delay. The timetable is not very reliable so don´t panic when your bus is not on time

- the public transport could be very crowded

- the app for public transport schedule: https://www.anm.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1308&Itemid=260

Where to stay

There is two options where to stay. You can either stay right in the city Naples or take a train to a city Sorrento. They both are great starting point for our day trips.

Naples:

- the price of accomodation runs about 20-40 euro per night

- there is a lot of homeless people so you could feel a little anpleasantly at night

- we stayed here and I could only recommend it. The owner is super kind and she will help you with everything. Position of this accomodation is amazing, it is about 2 minutes to the shop and about 15 minutes to the main train station from where is very easy travel to everywhere you want. The accomodation is big and spacious, it looks better than on the photos. After check-out we could keep our baggage at the owner.

Sorrento:

- this is the best starting point for all day trips

- the price of accomodation runs about 60-80 euro per night

- there is a great night life

What to visit

Capri, Italy

Capri is deffinitely worth a visit. It has everything what you could even dream of. Beautiful nature, clear blue sea, cozy houses, magical atmosphere and lot more.

There is two cities. Capri and Anacapri. You can take a small bus to travel between them but be aware that the buses are really small, it is only for about 20 people and it could be very adventurous. The roads are steep, narrow with a drop down and when there goes another bus opposite way it could be interesting.

How to get here:

Ferry from Naples:

- go with Caremar company, it is cheapest

- it goes from Calata Porta di Massa

- buy it one day before in the Caremar shop on the same adress (it is cheapers bcs you wouldn´t pay for online reservation)

Ferry from Sorrento:

- go with Caremar company

- don´t buy it online! They will purchase you extra for it

In both ways it will get you to Capri port which is situated in a city Capri. If you want to go up to the city, you can either take a bus, walk (it is not that far but there is a lot of stairs) or cableway

What to see:

- you should definitely get lost in beautiful streets of this island. I believe there is no place you wouldn´t like. Let your heart be your guide and expore this island.

Monte Solaro
@terez_hemberova
This is the highest point in Capri island. You will get amazing views from here so make sure it´s in your bucket list of places. You can get here by single chair lift or walk. The chair lift cost 11 euro one way or 14 euro both ways. If you walk, you will have all road only for yourself. Almost nobody walk. That´s because it is up the hill and it is hot. But I promise, it is worth it. You will get beautiful views all the way and you will feel like you are alone in this beautiful world.

Blue Grotto
@terez_hemberova
This place is really hyped-up on the social media. Sadly, we weren´t there because the water was so high it wasn´t possible to go inside. So be aware that the caves could be closed. It is closed when there´s too much water or the water is too dangerous (the waves are too big etc.). You will get here by bus from Anacapri.

Marina Piccola Beach
@terez_hemberova
Wow. Even if you don´t want to go to the sea or lay on the beach you should come and visit this beach. It is rocky but it is beautiful. Especially when the sun reflects off the sea surface and it sparkles. But if you visit is in a rush hours (10am to 16pm) you could be dissapointed because of the many people. It could be very overcrowded.

Tips:

- if you go there on a first Sunday of the month, you will have free entrance

- there are many drinking water fountains, just bring your water bottle and fill it there. Don´t buy water in front of Pompeii!

- the area is kind of large, so be ready you´ll spend here 3-5 hours if you want to see everything

How to get here:

Take a train from Naples Porta Nolana (the train starts here, so there is not that many people and you´ll sit for sure) or Naples P. Garibaldi (follow the sign linea Vesuviano).

If you go from Sorrento, take the same train (direction Napoli).

Get off at Pompeii Scavi

After that just walk for about 100 metres and there is the entrance

Don´t listen people who says "Pompeii tickets here". They are trying to sell you tour guide for which you will pay. So don´t listen to them and don´t go upstairs unless you want one of them. Continue to the gate of Pompeii.

How to get here:

Take a train from Naples Porta Nolana (the train starts here, so there is not that many people and you´ll sit for sure) or Naples P. Garibaldi (follow the sign linea Vesuviano).

If you go from Sorrento, take the same train (direction Napoli).

Get off at Pompeii Scavi.

Then go to Pompei Scavi bus stop and catch a bus EAV 808 to Vesuvio. You will pay directly to bus driver and it should cost you 3.10 euro.

It will take you almost to the top (it is the highest point where you can get by bus/car). Get off at final stop.

https://www.eavsrl.it/web/sites/default/files/eavbus/808_POMPEI-VESUVIO_dal_1.04.pdf

Tickets:

You have to buy your ticket in advance and online. There is no way to buy it on place.

Buy it from here, it is an official website:

https://vesuviopark.vivaticket.it/en/event/visita-guidata-al-gran-cono-del-vesuvio/79785?qubsq=88919cc0-cf0f-409c-89c9-c1486cf03f02&qubsp=a559ef59-9e98-41d8-b991-b39e7097d073&qubsts=1721936730&qubsc=bestunion&qubse=vivaticketserver&qubsrt=Safetynet&qubsh=3ccfade9a32396dbb78532165ba15e16

Sometimes it has some issues with some adress (mainly with czech and slovak adress). There is a solution. Just write down random swiss adress and you´ll be fine. They do nothing with it.

Entrance is only allowed at the time indicated on the ticket although there is leeway of 40 minutes beforehand and 100 minutes afterwards.

To ensure the safety of all visitors, entry to the path leading up to the crater of Vesuvius is restricted to groups of 60 people every 10 minutes

Some advices:

Buy it at least two days before. It could be sold out otherwise. Check the weather before booking your visit. From the top you will get a beautiful views but it is in clouds very often.

Have a proper shoes. There is volcanic dust and rocks and it slides a bit. Also, your shoes will get very dirty.

Take with you enough water. There is no shadow and it could be very hot.

Positano, Italy

This village in Amalfi Coast is breathtaking. There is everything you need. Sea is clear with blue water and waves.

There is two beaches. Main beach with sand or Fornillo beach with pebbles.

There are stores in every corner and they sell:

- products with lemon (which is typical for this area so make sure you buy something with it) - clothes (in italian style)

- shoes (homemade sandals)

- ceramics

Be aware that there is a lot of stairs everywhere!! So take a proper shoes.

- buy something from/with lemon. It is typical for this area

- every beach is divided into a public and paid part. Don´t worry, the public parts are also clean and beautiful, but a little bit ovecrowded-

How to get here:

If you travel from Naples, just take a train from Naples Porta Nolana (the train starts here, so there is not that many people and you´ll sit for sure) or Naples P. Garibaldi (follow the sign linea Vesuviano). Go to the final stop, Sorrento. It costs about 3 euro. Buy your ticket in the bigllietteria in front of the turnikets for this train.

The SITA bus has bus stop right in front of the train station.

Buy tickets in the Tabbacheria near the bus stop. There is SITA bus sigh, just look arount. It is not possible to buy tickets from a driver.

Naples, Italy

You should spend here one or two days. There is a lot of places to visit. You can go around by public transport. Buy a Biglietto Giornaliero, it is a daily ticket for 4.50 euro. The easiest way is to buy it in a machine in metro station but you can buy it in at any tobacco shop (tabaccheria) and many newspaper stands.
