1. La Gourmandise

Unusual flavors in a residential non-touristy neighborhood, but still near the center.

My personal favorite. I used to live one block from this incredible ice cream-shop and it was my daily guilty pleasure. It is a very small and hidden place (it doesn't even have a sign!!) and for that reason it is not touristy but well known by the locals. The handmade ice cream, made everyday with fresh products, and the unusual flavors offered will blow your mind!! Don't be scared by the weirdness of some flavors, I promise you they are worth it and your taste buds will agree with me!! A must! Personal favorite: Zafferano al croccante di noci

2. FataMorgana

A sweet treat just few steps from the Colosseum

Fatamorgana Monti
@titomario
Another incredible ice cream-shops which you can find in the streets of Monti's neighborhood. Enjoy your cone in the small Piazza degli Zingari and take a walk in the area. You will be surrounded by charming narrow streets and a peace that is not common in the city center. The ice creams are great and you can choose between more classic or more ambitious flavors, without ever being disappointed. Personal favorite: Bacio del Principe

3. Gelateria Giuffrè

The perfect place for both a breakfast or an evening sweet break

Gelateria Giuffrè
@titomario
Just few steps from the train station Stazione Trastevere, in one of the most important avenues in Rome, you can find an oasis of calm: Gelateria Giuffrè. Being both a cafe and an ice cream-shop, this place is perfect both to study/working or just to make a simple sweet pause during the day. The ice cream is incredible, tasty and enveloping, but you should not sleep on their others options, as the affogato or the various pastries. Ah, remember, ask for chocolate in the cone if u take it!! Personal favorite: Sanpietrino

4. Otaleg

A mix of innovative and traditional flavors in the hearth of Trastevere

Otaleg
@titomario
Just take few steps from Piazza San Calisto and you will find this small but rich ice cream-shop. Considered one of the best ice cream in Italy, it had opened multiple shops in the city and had become well known and quite touristy, but its strong and intense flavors still continue to be completely worth it. Do not let the queue scare you, usually it's quite fast. Personal favorite: Liquirizia

5. Neve di Latte - Roma Flaminio

The perfect treat after a museum visit

Neve di Latte - Roma Flaminio
@titomario
Another ice cream-shop that had opened different shops around the city, but my favorite remains this one. Located at just 100 meters from MAXXI, one of the bests contemporary art museum in Rome, there is nothing better than enjoying one of their marvelous ice creams after a visit to the museum. Personal favorite: cioccolato bianco e lamponi disidratati

6. Gelateria Fassi

Classic flavors masterfully made in the oldest ice cream shop of the city

Gelateria Fassi - Gelato artigianale a Roma dal 1880
@titomario
Arguably the city's oldest ice cream shop, this gem is nestled near Roma Termini's train station. Despite its modern appeal, the gelateria's walls narrate the tale of a rich and glorious past. A Roman local favorite, it stands as a perfect choice for any occasion – whether it's to pass the time while waiting for a train or to embark on a delightful journey to savor their ice cream, an experience that is unequivocally worth every moment! Personal favorite: zabaione

7. Gelateria Tony

Perfect for a family outing on a sunny afternoon

Gelateria Tony
@titomario
One of the most iconic ice cream-shops in the whole city. This family-run shop, opened in the '60, still sell freshly made ice creams at the popular price of 2€. On a sunny day you can see almost all the families of the neighborhood enjoying their ice creams and their Coppa Primavera, a glass of pure joy made of whipped cream, ice cream and fresh strawberries. Don't sleep on their panna montata (whipped cream), one of the best in the city!!! Personal choice: panna montata!
