Day 1:
My day trip to Vienna turned into a two-day adventure due to our train journey from Budapest to Vienna. The train system in Budapest can be a bit tricky to navigate, so I highly recommend seeking assistance at the ticket booth to ensure a smooth experience. We departed Budapest later than planned, leaving the station around 9:30 AM and arriving in Vienna at approximately 12:00 PM, as the trip takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Upon arriving at Vienna's train station, we booked a ride through the Bolt app, which is widely used in both Austria and Hungary (similar to Uber). Our accommodation was at Blackhome Wien, a modern and convenient stay. Since we arrived before the check-in time, we were pleased to find that the property offered lockers (available for a small fee) where we could securely store our belongings while exploring the city. This made it easy to start enjoying Vienna right away!

This hotel is conveniently located about a mile from the main train station and just a 13-minute walk from the Belvedere. While it's slightly farther from the city center, getting there was quick and easy using the Bolt app. A highlight of the stay was the café located downstairs, which served a fantastic breakfast to start the day!

This delightful spot offers a unique blend of Viennese and Greek cuisine that was absolutely delicious. The warm and welcoming staff made the experience even more special. Our waiter kindly shared his favorite wine and dessert with us, and he ended the meal with a soothing tea that perfectly rounded off our dining experience.

Weltmuseum Wien
@kherengonzalez
Visiting the Wien Museum was a truly enriching experience, especially with the incredible variety of art on display. One of the most memorable exhibits was the stunning feathered headdress attributed to Moctezuma. However, the museum notes that its connection to Moctezuma is not confirmed, adding an air of mystery to its history. It was fascinating to see such a significant piece of Mesoamerican art alongside other works from Mexico, offering a unique and thought-provoking dimension to the collection.

The Sisi Museum, nestled within Vienna's Hofburg Palace, offers a deeply personal and poignant glimpse into the life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, affectionately known as "Sisi." As you walk through the exhibits showcasing her elegant dresses, personal belongings, and the myths surrounding her life, you can’t help but feel a sense of sadness. The museum sheds light on the immense pressure she faced to maintain her image, reflecting the often unrealistic expectations placed on women of her time. It’s a captivating and emotional experience that lingers with you, making it a must-visit for those intrigued by history and the complexities of royal life.
