Lisbeau-a (aka Lisbon for Beau!)
Historical Stops
Quintessential historic district in Lisbon. The birthplace of Fado music and a great place to try Ginja, Portugal's cherry liquor/ aperitif.
Spooky puppet museum
Great views of lisbon, peacocks runnin around, and amazing castle museum combo! A worthwhile trek up the hill!
Cool Landmarks/ Centers
These are central bustling parts of town you can branch out from
If you want to ride the classic tram car and get a feel for the city, you’re after line 28
This is a great view of the city and the water!
Right by the water and where the #tourism really pops off. It’s wild and awesome and massive.
Bakeries & Markets
Beautiful, affordable hole-in-the-wall for the most lovely of Portuguese baking.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This place is a must try for the Pastel de Natas! Best I found, will become addicted!
This place is historic and a classic, old school cafe vibes
Got something called a Pao Deus here and it was indeed a godly bread
Massive hall of Portuguese food stands, like a much better portland food cart pod
Brunch
Classic Portuguese Fish Places
This little corner cafe moment changed me.
The most brilliant fish ever and wonderful jolly owner, he’s a Sagittarius and I miss him dearly. This place is genius.
Fancy (and thus pricey) Dinner
Fun Places to Party
Pink Street is a Bar hopping spot!
You already knowww bustling young part of town, kept getting invited to places here and had to walk from my hostel over and over lol
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Live music and vibes down the stairs… also drinks.
Bars
Good place for wine & gin
Vintage vibes & the perfect Caipirinhas
Gay Bars
Didn’t actually make it to either of these but i was recomended them! I think some of the above bars are also technically gay bars, but alas memory fails me.
Cultural thingz
A classy thing to do that I regret not doing is seeing a fado show! You can find the best ones in Alfama over dinner/ drinks.
Def don’t miss out on trying pastel de natas, they are so fire (custard pastry)
Ginja is the Portuguese liquor thing to try, theres an old lady that serves the most traditional one in Alfama square. Its a cherry aperitif!
Did I mention Alfama?? So cool so cute so lisbon.
Bachalau is gonna be hard to miss, but it’s the fish they do best!
The places with tables out in the middle of the street are pretty expensive and were never that great in my experience so def go for the hole in the wall joints. They’re trying to getcha!
Bread and pates are served with some meals, these cost extra and are not complimentary so if you dont want them you gotta refuse them!
A very worthwhile day trip is Sintra to see their castle, they give tours from Home Hostel Lisbon on certain mornings for cheap but you gotta sign up!
If its still warm Cascaix is also a very worthwhile day trip you can take by train (train station is right across from Time Out Market for breakfast)
Everyone is amazing and sweet. Enjoy!
