The timeless treasures of Kyoto

9:00 Starting at Kyoto station

We'll start at Kyoto station as it is the main connecting station and in Kyoto the transportation system is not great. To avoid using the bus I recommend going by train it is a 17 min ride from the Kyoto station to Saga Arashiyama.

I'll add all the same desciption to the maps for your convinience.

From Saga Arashiyama station we'll need to walk 5 to 10 minutes to get to the bamboo forest. It's a straight walk easy to navigate, especially with the Thatch map, or just follow all the people there.

Note that the map shows the end of the forest route. The groove is very small and it should not take you more than 30 minutes here. I'd recommend visiting the Nonomiya shrine with the last in the whole of Japan Black Torii gates. With its unique history and power.

Let's head to the station to move to our next location. From here you can use the Bus to get to the next temple or try the very cute Kyoto Tram, Buses are very complicated and the city of Kyoto recently canceled some routes in some places on weekends, it is very complicated and I would recommend using the Tram but the location is same for buses as well. Additionally, at this station, you can spare 10 minutes to enjoy the Kimono Forest, which lights up on the evening

10:50 Kimono Forest

11:20 Ryoanji Station

Ryōanji
@VladTravel
The bus stops directly at the temple but from the tram station, there is a 5-10 minute walk to it. And still, the tram route is faster to use. Again just follow the Thatch map or people around you. It is an awesome opportunity to check the ordinary Japanese households on your way to the temple.

It's time to indulge in a delightful lunch at a charming local eatery, where you'll savor authentic Japanese cuisine bursting with flavor and artful presentation. From delicate sushi to savory tempura, every dish is a culinary masterpiece that tantalizes the taste buds.

14:30 Road to Castle

Departing to our next destination from the same station. The road would take about 25 minutes on a bus. I would also really recommend using a taxi on this part of route especially if there are a few of you, the price won't be that much expensive around 2500 yen which is 17$

16:30 End of tour

This would be it for 1 day, as not much is open in Kyoto past 5 pm. After this time I can recommend you visit the market district Shotengai, which is quite big I'll just put 2 markers on the map so that you can navigate it.

A few tips

🤩Buy the IC card for public transport, you can use it in the subway, buses, railroads, and even to buy a drink at a vending machine. You can purchase one at the Kyoto station's vending machine just ask the staff which one. Also, there is an app for your phone which basically does the same.

🤩Coming really early to the location can save you from the crowds, just check if it's open when you plan to arrive.

🤩Be respectful & polite to people and japanese culture.

🤩Don't hold back on food, this is one of the best countries for foodies, the memories of it will be with you for a long time. Even if you think it's expancive.

🤩Just have fun!
