What people say

Dan Tanda
"You can take a slightly secret route to Arashiyama bamboo forest from this station. This isn't the route the crowd normally takes, it is more of a detour. It is less crowded if you go South on the wide road and then walk straight towards the Katsura River. If you go to the river and walk along the Katsura River bank, it will take you to the famous Togetsukyo Bridge, and the scenery is beautiful and not crowded. If you continue on to the Kameyama area beyond Togetsukyo Bridge, you can feel a more quiet atmosphere of Arashiyama. This is like a back entrance to the bamboo forest. By visiting Tenryuji Temple and the garden from Kameyama Park, you can exit from the north side of the garden, walking along the bamboo forest path, and returning to the shopping district around Arashiyama Station. "
"From Saga Arashiyama station we'll need to walk 5 to 10 minutes to get to the bamboo forest. It's a straight walk easy to navigate, especially with the Thatch map, or just follow all the people there."
