Bodega Bay

Bodega Head is the western most point of the Bodega Bay peninsula. It’s network of trails take you over the bluffs and provide remarkable views of the ocean and coastline. The park is a popular destination for spotting migrating whales.

Horseback riding at Chancellor Ranch is a top tier kids activity, and also provides premier vistas of the Bay.

Doran Beach is your best bet for a “typical beach day.” The beach is long, wide and flat — easy for posting up with chairs, playing frisbee and building sand castles — and faces south, with small gentle waves. It’s also a great beginners beach for surfing. You can park inside the park for a small fee, or along Rt 1, which is free but will require toting your belongings along a scenic 3/4 mile trail.

Schoolhouse Beach is home to the best tidepooling in Bodega Bay. Check Google for the tide schedules, and try to get there when they’re at their lowest. You’ll find anemones galore, and if you’re lucky, starfish of every conceivable color.

A great spot for local seafood, sides, and an impressive selection of beer. Seating is limited, so ordering ahead and picking up is recommended.

Wild Flour is the Sonoma Coast’s favorite bakery. They’ve got a great selection of treats, both savory and sweet. But be prepared to wait in line if you go during peak hours. It’s popular!

A destination for top-flight spa treatments and massages.

Don’t be fooled by the DIY “wood fired pizza” sign along the road. This place takes its pizza seriously. Calling when they first open is recommended, to make sure your order is in before they run out.

This place has recently been renovated to expand its grocery offerings. It also has a cold deli counter and sells pre-made sandwiches. If you forgot your beach items or need a new deck of cards or set of dominos, there is a healthy assortment of entertainment items.

This place is primarily known for its exceptional burgers. The quaint town of Bodega has other little shops that you can check out after heading here for lunch.
