"Doran Beach is your best bet for a “typical beach day.” The beach is long, wide and flat — easy for posting up with chairs, playing frisbee and building sand castles — and faces south, with small gentle waves. It’s also a great beginners beach for surfing.
You can park inside the park for a small fee, or along Rt 1, which is free but will require toting your belongings along a scenic 3/4 mile trail. "
