Nashville Favorites

A few hip, fun spots to eat, drink, and stay around Nashville. Doesn’t include the top ten list type spots (Broadway, music history type spots) but those are fun if you have more time.

Great public spaces and comfortable, well-designed rooms. It’s a new hotel which is nice - all the amenities are well kept and in good working order.

Eat

Lyra
@abby
Really good Mediterranean/Moroccan food. Highlights are the Hummus Collective with freshly baked pita and their lamb and couscous dish (rotates so might not be on the menu). Servers are knowledge, patient and helpful. Great cocktails.

Hattie B's Hot Chicken - Midtown Nashville, TN
@abby
Famous fried chicken sando. Can have a line so don’t show up hangry. The hot is truly very spicy - don’t go above it unless you’re a masochist.

The Pharmacy Burger Parlor & Beer Garden
@abby
It’s beer garden with great tater tots! Can avoid the lines if you walk ins be sit at the bar - works well for 2. Other than that it can have a long wait at prime time. Second visit - had the Pharmacy Burger a/ hand cut fries. It was a classic burger, yellow mustard etc. liked it! We split 1 and it was plenty - probably even if we hadn’t already had tacos. Nice Kolsch too.

Dose Coffee

Great casual or to-go breakfast (the breakfast BLT sando is excellent). They brew Counter Culture coffee. Not a super walkable location, so plan to drive.

Frist Art Museum
@abby
Art museum that punches above its weight. They get some stellar shows that don’t show in other parts of the country.

Centennial Park
@abby
Pretty park to walk around and the faux Parthenon is a fun spot. Parts of the park are under construction so a little less picturesque right now than it can be sometimes. Just be prepared.

Pinewood Social

Hip spot with a bowling alley and food. Could be a fun place to unwind at the end of a day or to kick off an evening out.

The rooftop bar at the Virgin Hotel. Has a pool, good cocktails and snacks. Feels almost LA-esque!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Cofounder @ Thatch 📍Washington, DC My favorite way to get under the skin of a place is to eat! I always seek out new dishes and ingredients that are local to the place I'm visiting. My ideal day in a new city involves wandering the streets of a new neighborhood to get a feel for its energy, ducking into an art gallery or museum to see something inspiring, and then stopping for an afternoon coffee and chocolate chip cookie. At night, you'll more likely find me in a cocktail bar than a club. I also love to hike, camp, and be near the ocean! I lived for 8 years in San Francisco, and spent extended time in Lima, Peru and Mombasa, Kenya. Even though I've moved back to my hometown of Washington, DC, I still stay up to date on the SF food scene and travel back often for work! I'm pretty tapped into the DC food and coffee scene. Conversational in Spanish. Have some rusty Swahili.
