It will come as no surprise that drinking is a big part of the British social life. Every second, the British drink 247 pints of beer and 232 glasses of wine! There are many, many reviews and summaries out there of the best – and most over the top – places to stay in Dubai. But finding somewhere a bit more low key can be trickier. As an expat living in the Arabian Peninsula I have travelled frequently to Dubai, and have tried and tested many different hotels to find the hidden gems amongst the skyscrapers. Over several years living here, I must have camped at over 100 different locations in Oman! A camping trip around Oman is an incredible adventure, but knowing where to pitch your tent can be daunting in such dramatic landscapes. Oman has no formal campsites, and all camping is "wild" or "backcountry". I’m sharing all of my favourite hidden gems, and the places we go back to weekend after weekend!
