In October 2022, my boyfriend and I took a roadtrip from George to Johannesburg to get his car back home. We thought we'd make the most of it and amble along the Garden Route for a few extra days. It was amazing, so I wanted to share some of it with you and add a few extra tidbits for those of you experiencing the places for the first time. It's recommended to go in spring or summer, but try to avoid holiday periods (December and January) as it can get super busy and sometimes pricey, unless you're going for a party haha. Enjoy!

The South African Garden Route is a 300-kilometer stretch that rounds the coast of South Africa extending from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape. The route takes you on a journey where you consistently see mountains to one side and the Indian Ocean to the other. This guide will take you on a journey along the coast from Cape Town to Johannesburg or (vice versa) visiting some of the finest luxury hotels & camps that have a conservation / sustainable ethos along the way. I’ve also featured some of the very best experiences this nation has to offer. From swimming with great white sharks to getting up close & personal with lions in Kruger national park. This itinerary can be from 2-4 weeks & is based on renting a car in Cape Town & dropping it off in Johannesburg (the most popular way to travel) as public transport is lacking here. There are other ways to travel from local flights to hop-on hop-off tourist buses that stop at the most famous sights if you can’t drive.

This area is full of fantastic restaurants, cafés, pubs and shops, as well as charming side streets, secret passageways, gardens, markets and some of the most beautiful homes in the city. Costa Rica is bustling with wildlife and adventure, every where you go there is something new and exciting! This guide is filled with fun activities such as hiking to see sloths and jaguars, surfing epic breaks, zip lining across the jungle and delicious local restaurants! It suggests a route to follow if you want to visit all of the top spots and have a diverse trip. Each destination has some brief information about where to stay and how to get there. This itinerary suggests 27 days to take in all the wonders of Costa Rica, although you can easily modify it if you wish to travel slower and become a local in your favourite place. Or if you have a shorter amount of time select a part of the route that suits your hobbies best!

Please enjoy my free guide to the absolutely gorgeous Hokkaido. We spent two weeks driving around Hokkaido, and have compiled a list of most excellent restaurants, cafes, scenic scenery, and hotels. TRAVEL TIPS: Fly from Tokyo (Haneda Airport) to New Chitose Airport (the closest airport to Sapporo, and third largest airport in Japan). It takes less than 2 hours, and since it is a local flight, you only have to arrive 1 hour before you fly out. I recommend this route over the Shinkansen (bullet train) which will take much longer and will cost more money. CAR RENTAL: A free shuttle bus from the airport took us to the car rental location. We drove to Sapporo and stayed for a few days before embarking on this excellent summer roadtrip. Please note, renting a car in Hokkaido in the wintertime takes an experienced and skilled snow driver, so if this isn't you, I recommend leaving the driving to the summertime. GUIDE INDEX: 1. My family and I embarked on an unforgettable road trip last summer (2023). This journey was a dream come true for me, as I had meticulously planned the itinerary several years in advance.
