One of the reasons to book a trip to Budapest is to visit the city's spas. Historic and always an integral part of the life of the city and its inhabitants, they are a must among the things to do in Budapest.
According to estimates, there are over 1000 natural sources of spring water throughout Hungary and 125 thermal springs are located just below the city, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 75°C.
I have created a useful guide to Budapest spas to absolutely try.

Hungarian cuisine is said to be one of the spiciest in Europe, perhaps because we use a lot of paprika, black pepper and other spices. Majority of the dishes are based on meat, carbs and seasonal vegetables & fruits.
The list of dishes to try can be rather long, especially if the recommendation comes from a Hungarian. 🙂
Below you will find a highlight and a culinary map, which will hopefully help you decide where to eat in Budapest.

Margaret island is located in the middle of the Danube in the center of Budapest. With its huge parks, sport centers, swimming pools and promenades, it is the one of the most beloved recreational areas in the Hungarian capital. You can come here to chill, have a picnic, take a nap in the shade, excercise or hang out in one of the restaurants and bars.

Headed to Budapest? Make your trip extra charming and *purposefully* Wes Anderson with a stay at one of the city's superb hotels. With this list of 4 and 5-star hotels, you'll find yourself feeling like you've dropped into the Grand Budapest Hotel.
You won't go wrong with any of these gorgeous spots! Compared to 4 & 5-star hotels in other cities in Europe, the hotels on this list can be quite affordable and even come with better amenities - like lush spas & baths complimentary for hotel guests.
I fall head over heels for historic hotels, so if that's also your vibe definitely book one of these beauties!
If you've already got your accommodations sorted, don't sweat it. You can still book glorious day pass at the Corinthia Spa or grab a Bourdain-recommended bite at New York Cafe at the Anantara.
As always, let me know if you have any questions - Happy Hoteling!

To truly experience the essence of Budapest, you shouldn't miss out on visiting the city's famous ruin bars. These are quirky, fun bars and cafés located in abandoned, old or ruined buildings. They have mismatched furniture mostly from yard sales or antique shops, random decorations and a very unique atmosphere.
Ruin bars are not only places for drinks: they are institutions! Many of them organize live concert, exhibitions, farmer's markets, beer or wine tastings, flea markets, craft fairs, open-air cinema screenings and various events that are not only appealing for the tourists but also for locals. Basically, they have something to offer for everyone. They are perfect melting pots of fun, entertainment, underground culture and gastronomy.
I highly recommend you visiting them during the evening AND also during the day as they have incredibly different vibes. During the day, they are great places for grabbing a cup of coffee or a light meal, a few people are even sitting there with their laptops, doing work! During the evening, the ruin bars become more and more lively, people start to have drinks and as the night progresses, many of these bars turn into clubs where you can dance the night away.
