As a destination all about the Alps, this is a more affordable choice for budget travelers seeking the most beautiful views of the Alps and, of course, wanting to escape the big crowds in the Italian, Austrian, or Swiss Alps. The roads in Slovenia are great for road trips and are in decent condition. For toll roads, purchase a vignette and enjoy the trip. The roads to off-the-beaten-track locations are smaller, winding, and may not have a protective fence, so be cautious.
