This amazing, penultimate 24-day itinerary was a #wanderlist celebration trip we planned and traveled, as it had always been a dream of ours to spend over 3-weeks touring an area of the world we had yet to experience so to try to gain a greater immersion into the culture. Visit 4 countries in Asia 🌏 🇭🇰🇰🇭🇹🇭🇮🇩 China, Cambodia, Thailand & Indonesia

This is obviously not my recommended stat length in this incredible country, but I am aware that many of us have to do visa runs or simply have little time available, so I will share my beautiful experience in Siem Reap, which lasted only 2 days. Expect here a complete itinerary as well as tips to prepare before the trip and important information around the country rules.

This is a map of all the places I went to on my 3 month backpacking trip. We flew into Bangkok then island hopped in south Thailand for 2 weeks before flying up to Chiang Mai to explore north Thailand for 2 weeks. Next stop was northern Laos for just over 2 weeks where we got the slow boat from Thailand to Luang Prabang. After Laos was an overnight bus to Hanoi in northern Vietnam where we worked our way down to the south over 3 weeks. Finally finishing in Cambodia for 3 weeks and then bus back to Bangkok to fly home. This map includes recommendations of things to do, places to stay and restaurant recommendations too. I have added in information about the visas, currency, how to get around and important tips and tricks we learnt along the way. You can fit in a lot less than you think when backpacking so this is a realistic map of what is achievable in 3 months. Probably, Ankgor Wat or Machu Picchu or the Whitsundays. But, I loved living in Italy, Portugal and Thailand. Being in one places for months or a year allows you to really get to be a traveler and not a visitor. What places would I revisit - all of them! Earth is a big place, there’s so much to see. And I would certainly do things differently now with a family and a 4 year old than I did when I was nomading. What traps for the unwary have I learned? - Visa, scrambling to find WiFi that works at the airport because I didn’t pay a fee to enter Argentina - Visa, having a typo on my birthdate and almost being denied enter - 6 month experiation period for passports - literally had an airline agent in a lounge tear up my boarding pass in front of me
