summer in Paris, beware of august as everything is closed, and that's really sad, for me at least, some of u freaks seems to love that shit.
i fear some of you, plagued by incessant scrolling and trend forecasting, may find a few of these locales to be 'played out,' but i implore you to remember that often when a place is truly special, there's a reason for that... and we shouldn't allow the over exposure of tiktok to erase the beauty of an extraordinary experience. please travel responsibly.
that's all. au revoir,
D

Need budget-friendly activities in Paris? We’ve got you covered! Here are the top five free things to do in Paris that won't cost you a cent.
1. Explore Montmartre
Wander the charming streets of Montmartre, the artistic heart of Paris. Stroll through Place du Tertre to see artists at work, visit the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica for panoramic views of the city, and explore the quaint cobblestone streets that have inspired countless artists. Don’t forget to check out the Montmartre vineyards, one of the last remaining in Paris.
2. Stroll Along the Seine River
The Seine River is the lifeblood of Paris, and its walkways offer a picturesque setting for a leisurely stroll. Walk along the pathways, admire the iconic bridges, and take in views of landmarks like Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower. The Seine’s riverbanks are also home to numerous bookstalls (bouquinistes) where you can browse for literary treasures.
3. Visit the Tuileries Garden
Adjacent to the Louvre Museum, the Tuileries Garden is a beautiful and historic public park perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
Wander through the meticulously manicured gardens, enjoy the statues and fountains, and maybe even catch an impromptu performance or art exhibition. It’s a peaceful escape in the heart of the city.
4. Attend a Free Event at the Hôtel de Ville
The Paris City Hall, or Hôtel de Ville, often hosts free cultural events, including art exhibitions, concerts, and festivals.
Check the schedule to see what’s happening during your visit. The building itself is an architectural marvel worth seeing, and its events provide a glimpse into the vibrant cultural life of Paris.
5. Explore the Promenade Plantée
Also known as the Coulée Verte, the Promenade Plantée is a beautiful elevated park built on a former railway line that stretches for nearly 5 kilometers. This green oasis offers a unique perspective of Paris as you walk above the streets and is filled with lush gardens, charming pathways, and scenic views—making it a perfect spot for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Enjoying these free activities is a great way to experience the rich culture and history of Paris without spending a dime. Whether you’re an art lover, history buff, or just looking to soak in the Parisian atmosphere, these spots offer something for everyone.

In Paris, cafés are permeated with charm and history, art and culture. In fact, between the 19th and 20th centuries, the Café Parisien were meeting places for artists and writers who exchanged ideas and thoughts over a good coffee. There are some cafés in Paris that have maintained the same atmosphere as when Verlaine, Picasso and Hemingway sat at the tables in the café.
Don't you get excited about the idea of sitting on those very chairs?
With this article I take you on a journey through the best cafés in Paris. Coffee addicts will thank me🥹☕️

Soul food & jazz ❤️ I don't really recommend Harlem as a neighborhood to stay in during your visit. It's super local & it's a little rough around the edges, but it's safe to visit and amazing to eat at. It's really famous for jazz music, live music, and soul food. It's full of history and it's one of my favorite neighborhoods to grab a drink & a bite at.
This map contains my favorite soul food restaurants, a steakhouse, and a couple of great spots to watch live jazz. This is a living map, meaning, when I discover any new spots that I love, I'll add them in & you'll automatically get the updates! Use the map function at the top right of this guide to see what's closest to you when you visit!

Out of all of the central arrondissements of Paris, the Latin Quarter may be one of the most authentic. What I mean by this is that it combines what makes Paris special, which is to say stunning monuments, beautiful architecture and history at every corner, but still remains a fairly residential part of the city.
This guide is designed to be used as an itinerary to the neighbourhood, meaning that you can follow all of the places in the order they are presented in, which should take most of your day. You can also pick and choose which places to visit, to better suit your own planning.
I hope you enjoy one of my favourite neighbourhoods in Paris!

Where should I go for good French pastries in Charleston? As a Charlestonian who used to call Paris home, I get asked this question a lot. And while nothing hits like the first croissant fresh off a plane in Paris, there are some really great local, authentic options when it comes to French cafes and bakeries in Charleston.
This is probably a combined result of Charleston and France’s shared history and the fact the Holy City is now a top foodie destination. Charleston’s French influence dates back to the late 1600s and early 1700s when a large group of French Huguenots fled France and settled in this area. This French influence is still apparent in the city of Charleston’s historic architecture, and there is still a beautifully preserved French Quarter downtown (featured in my hidden alley walking tour), which is where the majority of the best French cafes are located in Charleston.
This is my curated list of the 5 best spots to enjoy authentic French pastries and soak up some authentic French ambiance while visiting downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
