But there are also bays or hidden beaches that you have to make some effort to get to. So if you are going on holiday to the Costa Brava, think about a rental car. This makes it easier to search for those bays or (hidden) beaches. But maybe you don't have to look far and you are already staying close to one of those bays or beaches.

If you're looking for an affordable getaway and adventure for two (romantic) or solo, you'll find in this guide all the information you need to have a memorable weekend. Do you enjoy snow sports or want to try skiing or snowboarding? Did you know that there's a ski resort right in the capital, Sofia, on the Vitosha mountain? It's ideal for those with little experience in these sports who don't want to spend a lot experimenting. Or for those who love snow sports and want to explore a new city without the mass tourism found in major European capitals. Did you know that Bulgaria has one of the oldest cities in Europe? I'll show you which city that is and what you can see and do in a day there. In this guide, you'll understand why you should go to Sofia if you have a limited budget, as it's a relatively cheap country. I'll also provide advice and suggestions for spending a day in the snow and engaging in winter sports. Sweden is a Scandinavian nation with thousands of coastal islands and inland lakes, along with extensive boreal forests and snow-capped mountains. It is also one of the perfect areas for hunting the northern lights at the right time.

So, you're going to the Canadian Rockies? After living in Montana for many years, I knew and expected the terrain to be quite similar. I was in for quite the surprise when this area of Canada turned out to be one of the most beautiful places I've EVER visited. Below you'll find my favorite stops (separated by location) that we found along the way from Edmonton to Calgary (and a few stops over in BC!), along with tips on the area and an interactive map. I've included the hotels used personally, as well as some additional top rated stays at several price points. I've also included some stops that we didn't make it to this first time around, but we will definitely be heading back for them! Quick Disclaimer: Respect nature and wildlife. Wildlife is WILD and nature is natural. Treat them as such. Leave no trace when outdoors, and respect wildlife by giving them space. Locations included: 🏔️ Edmonton 🏔️ Jasper National Park 🏔️ Banff National Park 🏔️ Banff, Alberta (town) 🏔️ Lake Louise (town) 🏔️ Canmore, Alberta 🏔️ Calgary, Alberta I've added quite a few hotel options, as they all book up extremely quickly and are not cheap. I did highlight the ones we stayed at as well as provided descriptions of those! Pssst. Above is the exact route we drove also! We drove up from Montana, but flying in to Edmonton and renting a car or RV to drive this itinerary down through to Calgary is an awesome option. If you wish to continue this trip further like we did, drive down to Yoho and Kootenay National Parks in BC and Glacier National Park in Montana from Calgary! I have a separate guide for Glacier, but highly recommend if you have the time! I have listed a variety of different things from nature and hiking to food and craft beer to a few select "other" options (that don't involve hiking). However, this guide primarily focuses on the true beauty of nature in Canada. You won't run out of options! We found the Parks in Canada to be extremely accessible, dog friendly, and overall pretty clean. The red Adirondack chairs were the coolest thing, and I'm not going to explain that... You'll see what I mean.

Colombo might seem like just another chaotic city, but trust me, it's got way more to offer than just traffic jams and busy streets. For the backpacker or solo traveler, Colombo is a treasure hunt with some seriously cool finds. First off, ditch the idea that the streets are ugly. They’re alive! Wandering around, you’ll stumble upon colorful markets, like Pettah, where you can get lost in a maze of spices, trinkets, and random bargains. It's chaotic, but in the best way possible, perfect for snapping some gritty, authentic travel photos. If you’re into history, Colombo's got you covered. Check out the colonial vibes at Independence Square or the old Dutch Hospital, now buzzing with cafes and shops. And don’t miss Gangaramaya Temple, it's a mashup of all things Buddhist with a side of quirkiness. When you need to catch your breath, hit up Galle Face Green. Grab some street food (isso wade is a must-try), find a spot on the grass, and watch the sunset over the ocean. It’s one of those moments that makes all the hustle worth it. The best part? Colombo’s a city where you can easily blend in, do your own thing, and still find surprises around every corner. So yeah, it’s worth a stop but it could also be your least favorite city!!? Anyhoo, add these spots to your Google Map, and you’re set for an awesome urban exploration!

Fukagawa stands out among Tokyo's traditional neighborhoods like Yanaka due to its distinct characteristics. It may not offer an abundance of winding narrow streets for aimless exploration, but its true essence lies in its unique blend of specific temples, shrines, and the distinctive merchandise you can unearth. Fukagawa, while deeply rooted in the traditions of shitamachi, showcases its value through these hidden gems. In the past, Fukagawa was crisscrossed by canals, though today only a handful remain as remnants of its history. During the Meiji period (1868-1912), numerous factories thrived in this area but gradually relocated after World War II to accommodate the city's expansion. These industrial spaces transformed into office buildings and residential complexes. Strolling through the quiet backstreets of Kiyosumi-Shirakawa offers a pleasant experience, even if it lacks an abundance of must-see attractions. Un véritable coup de cœur ! Édimbourg, la capitale de l'Écosse, est une ville au charme unique, mêlant histoire, culture et modernité. Dominée par son célèbre château, perché sur un rocher volcanique, Édimbourg regorge de monuments historiques, de musées fascinants et de paysages naturels époustouflants, comme Arthur's Seat, une ancienne colline volcanique offrant une vue panoramique sur la ville. Ses quartiers contrastés, du Royal Mile historique à la nouvelle ville géorgienne élégante, témoignent de la riche histoire de la ville, tout en offrant une scène gastronomique et artistique florissante.
