Vietnam Uncovered
New Pro
Lives in Hanoi, Hoàn Kiếm, Hanoi, Vietnam
🇻🇳 Hi, my name is Viet, and I have dedicated the last 9 years of my life to an extremely intense exploration of my homeland - Vietnam. 🏙️🏞️ I have traveled the whole country several times, starting with the main cities and common routes, and ending up exploring countless off-the-beaten-path trails and ethnic villages in remote mountainous areas. 🏍️ As a passionate motorcyclist, I have done all of my trips on 2 wheels, giving me the opportunity to truly experience and be connected with both the surroundings and the people in the present moment. My records show that during the last years, I have spent over 80,000 kilometers and 550 days just on the road, not counting living in several different places across the country or working with the ethnic minorities in the Northwestern region, contributing to a sustainable community-based tourism projects. 💫 I can proudly and with great confidence say that I've seen and experienced a lot in Vietnam and have truly been living my passion - exploring and understanding Vietnam as much as possible - to the fullest, ultimately turning into a destination expert. 🙋🏻‍♂️ 🫴 Now I'm here on a mission to uncover the most authentic travel experiences in this breathtakingly rich country, which is absolutely worth visiting but can be quite challenging for first-time visitors to truly experience its real beauty. My goal is not to produce as many guides as possible, yet to create truly in-depth and trustable source of information. ℹ️ I have years of experience with tour guiding, custom itinerary planning, and consulting for hundreds of travelers, explorers, and adventurers. My maps, guides, and services here on Thatch are mainly focused on those who use cars, buses, trains, and planes as a form of transportation and are planning for "beyond general exploration of Vietnam" in a truly authentic way. If you are interested in motorcycle travel, overland trips, or deep focused expeditions, please schedule a consultation call with me!

Kayla Fedeson
Lives in New York, NY, USA
Hey there, I'm Kayla! I have lived in New York City for over 10 years and have been traveling the world for more than 15. Through solo travels, those with friends, and group tours, I know firsthand what places you need to see on a trip, as well as those that you should see and may have never heard of. I am a history nerd, nature junkie, and huge sports fan, so my ideal trip combines all three of these things. I love ancient sites and exploring as many around the world as I can, am trying to go to all 400+ United States National Park Sites and all 30 MLB stadiums, and travel every four years for the Women's World Cup. If you are looking for guidance on where to take a short break, longer break, or adventure, I am your go-to. I can make recommendations on where you should look, tell you all of the things you can do in your destination, as well as the things you cannot miss. As I develop this page further, I want to be a resource full of fun facts and personalized recommendations on what you should do and where you should go. I have traveled to 34 US states, plus DC and Puerto Rico, and 38 countries. I've been giving friends my extensive travel guides for free for years, so now it's my turn to share with you. Living off a credit card and minimum wage for the first year in NYC with a ton of curiosity, I had to find ways to do everything on the cheap. I went to pay-what-you-wish nights at museums, found free things to do, and still very rarely do I pay full price for a Broadway show (and if I do, I know how to save at least $10). I can tell you about a lot of fun expensive things, but if you are looking to travel on more of a budget (it's a cruel world out there), I can help with that too. Travel is my passion, but I love rock climbing, softball, running, & reading too.

Karen Kandelman
Lives in London, UK
My name is Karen Kandelman, and I've had the incredible privilege of living in six diverse countries, traversing through fifty others, and immersing myself in the vibrant tapestry of human existence. I am originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but have been living in London for 7 years now. From an early age, I was captivated by the beauty of diversity, drawn to the melodies of languages as varied as the landscapes they belong to. My linguistic odyssey began with Portuguese, my mother tongue, and expanded to include Spanish, English, French, and Dutch. These languages are not just a means of communication for me; they're windows into the hearts and minds of people from every corner of the Earth. My journey has taken me through bustling city streets and serene countryside, from the sun-soaked beaches of Brazil to the snow-capped peaks of the Alps. With every border crossed, I've embraced the local flavors that tell stories of heritage and tradition. Food, after all, is the world's most accessible work of art, a masterpiece that captures the essence of a culture with each delectable bite. Whether savoring a rich and hearty bouillabaisse in Marseille, indulging in the intricate spices of Indian cuisine, or relishing the delicate nuances of sushi in Tokyo, I've found my sense of wonder through the world's kitchens. But my exploration doesn't end with food; it extends to the world of art as well. Museums, galleries, and street art have been my guides to understanding the soul of each place I've visited. From the classical brushstrokes of the Louvre to the vibrant murals of Mexico City's neighborhoods, art has revealed the aspirations, struggles, and dreams of humanity throughout time. Through my experiences, I've come to understand that the essence of a place is not solely in its landmarks, but in the stories of its people. The elderly street vendor sharing tales of their family's recipes, the street artist pouring their heart onto the canvas of the city walls – these are the true narrators of a locale's spirit. As I continue this lifelong adventure of exploration, my goal is to bridge the gap between cultures, languages, and traditions. I aim to bring the world closer together, one plate and one canvas at a time. Through the lens of food and art, I hope to inspire others to embark on their own journeys of discovery, embracing the rich diversity that makes our planet an exquisite masterpiece. So, let's embark on this adventure together. As I share my stories, experiences, and musings, may we find common ground in our shared humanity and celebrate the kaleidoscope of life that surrounds us. Here's to the thrill of discovery, the joy of a new taste, and the beauty that is inherent in our world's every corner.

Ben Andrew
Lives in Bangkok, Thailand
Sawasdee Krub 🙏 // A big hello from Thailand, the Land of a Thousand Smiles! 🇹🇭 Hey, I'm Benji! I've been living and working in the travel industry here in Thailand for the past six years now, and what a journey it's been! 🤯 Before settling in this beautiful country, I spent five years on the Gold Coast in Australia, also in the travel biz. Funny story—I actually arrived in Thailand by chance! I was on my way back to the UK from Australia after my visa expired (feeling pretty bummed about leaving), and I booked the longest layover I could find: two days in Bangkok. Thailand was never even on my radar before that. In fact, I didn’t even know where it was on the map! (Don't worry, I do now!) But those two days changed everything. I fell in love with the country, the people, and the incredible vibe here. Before I knew it, I landed a job that let me travel around Thailand and get paid to explore this amazing place. Fast forward five years—I had worked my way up to operations manager, but something was missing. I wanted a place to call home, instead of living out of a suitcase. So, I decided to put down some roots. Now, here I am, living in Bangkok for the past year and doing what I love most: creating unforgettable trips and itineraries that let you experience Thailand the way I did. Whether you're planning a "backpacker budget, hostel-hopping, living-your-best-life" kind of adventure or you're more into the "boujee 5-star, private guide, luxury travel" scene, I've got you covered. Or maybe you want a mix of both? No problem! Let me craft your Thailand Dream Itinerary and show you why this country stole my heart. 🇹🇭🔥😎
