Results for Myeong-dong
Everything you need as a vegetarian or vegan in Seoul. 🌱 I'll keep it real, folks: It's not *easy* but it's manageable.
Contents:
30+ vegan-friendly restaurants and cafes, useful apps and phrases, and street food options. Basically: Everything I learned from 28 days as a vegetarian traveller in South Korea (and dozens of hours of research).
🌱 30+ VEGAN FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS
This interactive map makes navigating Seoul's vegan and vegetarian food scene easier. 🔗 But because Google Maps isn't always reliable in South Korea, you'll also find NaverMap links for every location.
🗺️ ORGANISED BY NEIGHBOURHOOD
Hungry in Insadong? Or want to visit Itaewon but not sure what's available for you? No problem. I've listed each restaurant by neighbourhood.
I've included recommendations in 10 different neighbourhoods including:
- Myeong-dong | 명동
- Yeonnam-dong | 연남동
- Hongdae | 홍대
- Yongsan | 용산
- Gangnam | 강남
- Seongsu | 성수
- Jongno (near Gyeongbokgung Palace) | 종로
- and more!
🌱 CATEGORISED
Each spot is marked as 'vegan', 'vegan options' and 'vegetarian-friendly' so you know what to expect (look out for the little 🌱 plant emoji). I've also categorised whether it's a cafe '🍰' or a restaurant '🍴'.
I've also included what kind of food you can expect to find at each location.
🫡 STREET FOOD OPTIONS
15+ Korean street food options for vegetarians and a smaller list (5 options) for vegans.
💬 HELPFUL PHRASES: Because most Koreans don't know the restrictions linked to vegetarianism and veganism, it's often necessary to explain your restrictions. To make this a bit easier, I've included simple phrases you can adapt for your restrictions (and vocabulary).
---
☕️ 🤍 Being a veggie foodie is totally possible in Seoul, it just takes a little extra planning. With this guide, I have no doubt you'll have an incredible foodie experience.
📢 This Seoul foodie guide will be regularly updated so be sure to save it and follow @StormOnTheHorizon (everywhere📲) for updates.

My first solo trip was when I went to Korea when I was 21! Getting around was pretty easy with Google Maps. I even managed to take the public transport on my own. I had the chance to make lots of new Korean friends, learn the song about their National flower, wander the streets of Myeong Dong and even dress in Hanboks to visit the royal palace!

South Korea has always been one of my favourite countries that I've ever been to, and I will always have a soft spot for this country.
Seoul has amazing things to do and see, from ancient palaces to modern skyscrapers, traditional markets to trendy boutiques, and mouthwatering street food and restaurants in alleyways frequented only by the locals.
Here is my one-week itinerary in Seoul. I've stayed in 3 different hotels during my stay, alternating between Myeongdong, Dongdaemun and Mapo. It allowed me to discover plenty of things in each neighbourhood. And I have also included some tours that I went on, which was incredibly amazing!
I hope this itinerary will help you find your way to the best places in Seoul, just like I did and fell in love with this city all over again.

Calling all foodies who are planning trips to Seoul 😋🍽️🇰🇷
From Korean traditional food to classic KBBQ and even venturing out a little bit into foreign cuisines, you'll definitely find a restaurant you'll want to try and add to your personal travel plans.
While I've included all the restaurants that I featured in my YouTube video, that you can watch for free, I've also added EXCLUSIVE RESTAURANTS for my Thatch guide from all my previous trips to Seoul (Note: I've been to Seoul more than 10 times, so this will have a lot of restaurants 🇰🇷).
This guide is packed with restaurants that you *cannot* find in articles, tour guides, and social media videos out there. If you want to know where Koreans really go to eat out with their friends, this is definitely the guide for you!
Note: As I continue going to Korea, I will keep adding my new discoveries here!

Why choosing to go to South Korea?
In the past years , South Korea gained a lot of recognizen , because of their amazing K-dramas , music (K-pop) , tasty cuisine and diverse culture . A lot of foreigners dream to go visite South Korea or even study/live there, but where to start? Sometimes is not easy to know where to start to plan your trip , but that’s why this guide will help you for sure💪🏻
Seoul is a good destination for solo travelers , couples and families, there is a great choice of things to do for everyone’s taste.
I’ve been 2x to South Korea and it’s still one of my favorite destination. The first time I went alone and I did a language stay for 5 weeks and the second time I went with friends for 2 weeks . The two experiences where amazing and really different. The second time I could feel I was a lot more comfortable in Seoul, because I knew how things worked and what I needed . So, it easy to explain and show a lot of things to my friends.
Everything you need to know is here.
If you read my guide , I’m 100% sure you will feel the confidence to even go there alone . You even will have the feeling to already have been there once before.
Here is a guide to get you started to plan your trip:

Being an exchange student in South Korea for over three months, I would encourage people to utilize this guidance when visiting Korea. That is one of my favorite tourist destinations. The culture, scenery, and people are all distinctive. You won't be sorry if you go. I dislike the idea of making a timed itinerary. This schedule is just intended to serve as a guide to the places you should see if you are visiting Korea for the first time. It will also not recommend eateries to you. While visiting a new area, I feel that discovering the restaurant on your own is more real. Furthermore, there are so many wonderful restaurants in Korea that it is impossible to select. This is your trip, and you have complete power over it. It is entirely up to you what you do after visiting the recommended locations.

Seoul quickly became my favorite city! There are so many things to do, from visiting the palaces to sipping coffee in the prettiest cafes I’ve ever seen, stroll around the parks or hike the mountains for wow views!
I did months of research and created this guide
with 100+ locations for myself to explore Seoul and now I’m sharing it with you! 😍
This Map guide includes:
-Best places to see ( palaces, villages, buildings, libraries, museums, temples and gates, parks and hikes, cherry blossom spots & more)
-Where to eat ( places I tried myself, cafes & street food markets)
-Shopping areas
The best part? When you tap into each location you will find a Naver map link (google maps doesn’t work in Korea, so you will need to download Naver Map but most of the locations are in Korean) so you can easily get directions.
I did all the hard work and searched for the locations on Naver Map, so you don’t have to.
You will also find a travel guide with some useful informations at the end of the guide.
EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE🤯
This Map guide DOESN’T cover:
-nightlife
-stays

A trip to Korea is incomplete without savouring the local food. Korean food is one of the best cuisines in the world - and my favourite part, its perfectly suited for an Indian palette.
Spicy, savoury, tangy; a galore of meat, fish and vegetables, often accompanied by rice, that creates a well balanced, satisfying flavour with every bite. Chef's kiss! 🤌
This guide will tell you about what to look for, where you can eat it, and how to "jalmeogo" or "eat well" in Seoul.
