In October 2022, my boyfriend and I took a roadtrip from George to Johannesburg to get his car back home. We thought we'd make the most of it and amble along the Garden Route for a few extra days. It was amazing, so I wanted to share some of it with you and add a few extra tidbits for those of you experiencing the places for the first time. It's recommended to go in spring or summer, but try to avoid holiday periods (December and January) as it can get super busy and sometimes pricey, unless you're going for a party haha. Enjoy!

South Africa is a multifaceted country filled with magical outdoor adventures that dreams are made of. I immediately fell in love with the country from the people to the landscapes I felt that I was suppose to be there. I remember traveling into Cape Town by car from the garden route for the first time, with the sun setting over the ocean & “Queen” on the radio I felt like this place was going to be home. This guide will take you on a journey along the coast from Cape Town to Johannesburg or (vice versa) visiting some of the finest luxury hotels & camps that have a conservation / sustainable ethos along the way. I’ve also featured some of the very best experiences this nation has to offer. From swimming with great white sharks to getting up close & personal with lions in Kruger national park. This country truly makes for unforgettable experiences. This itinerary can be from 2-4 weeks & is based on renting a car in Cape Town & dropping it off in Johannesburg (the most popular way to travel) as public transport is lacking here. There are other ways to travel from local flights to hop-on hop-off tourist buses that stop at the most famous sights if you can’t drive.

In October of 2022, we flew to Iowa to purchase our brand-new travel rig, a Ford F-350 Super Duty Lariat Tremor (follow its build and our adventures on Instagram @traveling_nobodys - end of shameless plug here). After a brief stop in Nebraska to visit family, we high-tailed it through the rest of the Cornhusker state and wound up in the Northeast corner of Colorado, which we deemed to be the beginning of the truck’s shakedown trip home. This was our first time driving through Colorado and we could not have asked for a better time to explore the state’s diverse landscapes, made even more spectacular with the kaleidoscope of fall colors that were on full display. Running from corner (NE) to corner (SW) this route only scratches the surface of what Colorado has to offer and we look forward to finding our way back there sooner rather than later.

My family and I embarked on an unforgettable road trip last summer (2023). This journey was a dream come true for me, as I had meticulously planned the itinerary several years in advance. One of the absolute highlights was experiencing the majesty of Avenue of The Giants, fulfilling a long-standing desire to behold the towering trees along this stunning route.
