Coimbra is a great trip if you're exploring Portugal or if you just want to see a little more of what the country has to offer besides Lisbon and Porto. It's also a great city to visit with children with all its kids friendly attractions. This guide has everything you need to know from the main attractions, where to stay, eat, etc.

Portugal is one of the best European countries for an on the road: it's easy to get around, it enjoys an excellent climate almost all year round, the food is good and there are lots of things to do and see for all tastes. We spent 14 days in Portugal and I can tell you that there is no better choice we could have made in our life. Its wild beaches, the cliffs that will take your breath away, its villages populated by medieval houses.. Discovering Portugal by camper or car is an experience that will make you discover your spirit of freedom or above all reach all its wonders, even in the most remote places! But before traveling you need to carefully plan your itinerary and I want to show you mine! In this itinerary from north to south of Portugal I show you all the most beautiful places we have visited including beaches, villages and cities, so that you can choose which ones to see based on the time you have and your preferences. This is a 14 day itinerary but, if you have less time available you can adapt it by excluding something. The itinerary in brief: -3 days in Lisbon -Day excursion to Sintra and Cabo da Roca -Obidos and Nazaré -Aveiro and Costa Nova -2 days in Porto -Day excursion to Braga and Guimarães -Coimbra -Alentejo: Evora and Monsaraz -3 days in the Algarve: Faro, Albufeira, Lagos and Sagres. What is Fado music? 🪕🇵🇹 Fado was born in Lisbon in the 19th century during the urban revival where many people would meet in taverns, cafes, and even brothels (mostly in Bairro Alto or Mouraria) to sing about the ups and downs of life while invoking a sense of longing/nostalgia for a person, place, or moment. Fado has changed throughout the years depending on the location (mostly Lisbon or Coimbra) but it’s traditionally sung by a fadista, accompanied by a Portuguese guitar (which has 6 orders of 2 strings) and a viola. The music still exists today and was nominated by UNESCO as a Intangible Heritage of Humankind in 2011. So, here’s a short of list of where to hear Fado music in Lisbon: Highly recommend RESERVING a table for dinner in advance! Most of the time you have dinner + there’s a wonderful fadista to accompany the meal! Enjoy :)

One man's trash is another man's treasure 💙 Artur Bordalo, also known as Bordalo II (pronounced Bordalo Segundo), was born in 1987 in Lisbon, Portugal. He is famous for using street garbage and discarded materials to create stunning animal sculptures. His underlying message is about excessive consumerism and waste, pollution and all types of endangered species. His works, which can be found all over the world, are referred to as "trash art." This free guide includes: 🔹52 art installations of Bordalo II in & around Portugal, broken down by region 🔹Interactive map with tagged locations (use the map icon below to toggle between the guide and full map) 🔹All but a few are found outdoors (some are in restaurants as noted), and free of charge to view!
