Planning:
• Organize the bare minimum and leave room for spontaneity
• Research other travelers' blogs and read travel guides

• English isn't widely spoken, use Google Translate
• Get a local SIM card for internet access (Gigago)

The aroma of cinnamon and star anise brings back vivid memories of Vietnam, a country that left a lasting impression on my taste buds with its fragrant and intense flavors. The enticing scent of pho was a constant companion as I journeyed through diverse landscapes, hiking through lush rice terraces, weaving through motorbikes on my way to hidden bars — all within one month.
We're gonna start on the north of the Vietnam, do the North loop and slowly move to the south of Vietnam.

Imperial Citadel of Thang Long

Thang Long Royal City, also known as the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, is a historic site located in the heart of Hanoi, Vietnam. It was constructed in 1010 during the reign of Emperor Lý Thái Tổ of the Lý dynasty and served as the political and cultural center of Vietnam for many centuries. The citadel has witnessed the rise and fall of several Vietnamese dynasties, including the Lý, Trần, and Lê dynasties. In 2010, the central sector of the Imperial Citadel was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site features ancient architectural structures, archaeological remains, and artifacts that reflect the rich history and cultural heritage of Vietnam

Don't miss the chance to visit the onsite museum to gain deeper insights into the citadel's significance and historical context.

Respect any barriers or signs indicating restricted areas, and refrain from littering or damaging the citadel grounds. Additionally, be mindful of the weather conditions, as the site can be exposed to the elements, especially during hot and sunny days. 

The Imperial City of Thang Long is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features old structures, including the Flag Tower and the Doan Mon Gate.
