What people say

"Akaroa is a small and cute French town on the Banks Peninsula with historic buildings and just about 700 inhabitants. It's very peaceful there and located right at the water. The shops and restaurants look all very nice and you can go for a walk along the bay and enjoy those beautiful views over the water and the mountain in the background. There are a lot of holiday homes and in fact, the town felt a lot like vacation to me. I really loved it there. The charming colonial cottages make for a nice stroll through the French town. This little township was the only French settlement in New Zealand. "

"We loved visiting here and renting kayaks to take out on the harbor! This area is known for their dolphins, so if you're lucky you'll spot some! "
