"The only semi-Americanized thing I found in Oki. Basically a shopping mall. Several cool restaurants and several cool bars for happy hour. My favorite part of American Village is the sea wall that it sits on. My recommendation: go close to sunset time, grab an Orion from one the bars, then walk out onto the sea wall and enjoy the sunset. There’s something special about drinking a Japanese beer while watching the waves hit the sea wall and the US fighter planes flying thru the sunset. "

After multiple visits myself, I hope to be able to help others feel confident in navigating this incredible journey. Okinawa is a small island off mainland Japan. Think of it as “the Hawaii of Japan”. Beaches galore, shopping, and great food! The sea walls are fascinating to me.
