What people say

"Jewel Changi Airport, often referred to simply as Jewel, is an impressive nature-themed entertainment and retail complex that enhances the experience at Changi Airport in Singapore. Officially opened on October 18, 2019, it boasts the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, known as the Rain Vortex, which cascades from a height of 40 meters (130 feet) and is surrounded by a lush terraced forest setting. Jewel spans 135,700 square meters (1.46 million square feet) across ten levels, featuring five above ground and five below. Designed to keep Changi Airport competitive as a major aviation hub, Jewel is built on what was formerly an open-air car park and significantly expands Terminal 1's capacity and facilities. It includes gardens, attractions, a hotel, and around 300 retail and dining outlets, along with early baggage check-in services. Its unique design integrates nature and architecture, creating an uplifting environment for both travelers and local visitors. Among its key attractions is the Shiseido Forest Valley, an expansive indoor garden that houses approximately 3,000 trees and 60,000 shrubs, mimicking a high-altitude tropical forest. The Canopy Park, situated on the uppermost level, offers recreational activities such as mazes, suspended bridges with stunning views of the Rain Vortex, and play areas for children. The complex receives around 300,000 visitors daily and had welcomed 50 million guests within six months of its soft opening, surpassing its first-year visitor target. The architectural vision for Jewel was led by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, who aimed to create a seamless blend of a traditional mall and a vibrant urban park. The intricate design features a glass-and-steel façade, allowing natural light to flood the interior and highlighting the beauty of the indoor gardens and attractions. Jewel not only serves as a gateway for travelers but also stands as a cultural landmark, inviting exploration and interaction for all who visit."

"When you enter Singapore's airport, there will be signposts everywhere that lead you to the so called "Jewel", a really special area at Terminal 1 that cannot be compared to any other airport in the world. Whatever you can imagine, the "Jewel" has it all: besides shops and restaurants of every kind, the highlight of the Jewel clearly is the indoor waterfall in the middle of the building, with it's impressing height of 40 meters. And for all the action-fans out there, the Jewel also includes a bridge above the highest foor and also a skytrain between the terminals which leads you really near past the waterfall. You even have access to a climbing crag, where you can let go of your energy after or before your flight. But be aware, that you have to pay for the bridge, as well as for the climbing crag, while the skytrain access is free. "
"Visiting an airport may not be your typical tourist spot, but Jewel Changi is not your average airport. It has been voted as one of the best airports in our Readers' Choice Awards for a reason! Designed by architect Moshe Safdie, this transportation hub is a unique blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment all with a nature theme. You can marvel at the stunning Rain Vortex, a seven-story indoor waterfall, explore an indoor forest with suspended walkways, and shop at almost 300 stores. It's a must-visit for travelers with layovers, and many airlines even allow you to check in a full 24 hours in advance just to spend more time enjoying all that Jewel Changi has to offer. Trust me, it's definitely worth a visit!"
