"These pyramids are a must-visit while in CDMX! This Mexican archeological site has some of the largest ancient pyramids in the world and is a fascinating place to visit and learn about ancient history.
Cost: 80 MXN entrance fee (don't buy online)
Hours: 8am - 4pm
How to get there:
- Tour: GetYourGuide and Airbnb Experiences have many tours than include transportation and meals. The tours are quite affordable and usually include transportation and meals, but you lose the independence of exploring the ruins on your own.
- Bus: Buses leave from Terminal Norte every 20 mins to Teotihuacan. Tickets can be bought at Puerta 8 (usually there's a large sign stating "Los Piramides"). The bus will take just under and hour and is definitely the most affordable way to reach Teotihuacan. The bus makes a few different stops at the site but it's recommended to get off at "Gate 1" so that you begin your tour at one end of Avenue of the Dead.
- Uber: It's worth looking at the uber prices for the times you wish to go but expect to pay anywhere from 600-800MXN one way.
- Rental Cars: rentals in CDMX are more affordable than most cities so it may be worth looking into prices if you're planning on doing a couple of different out-of-town day trips.
Extra tips:
- arrive EARLY to avoid crowds and heat
- bring lots of water and snacks (there is no shade at the ruins!)
- avoid Sundays as entrance is free for Mexicans"
